CALL FOR ENTRIES - Video Clips for FW Podcasts
« on: February 04, 2013, 01:56:42 PM »
    Calling on all filmwasters:

We are extremely keen on getting the FW video podcasts running at a more than 1 per year frequency  ???

So, it is over to you.  In these times of mobile-everything and smart telephones, it has never been easier to make hi-quality video clips, and we want your photo-related ones please! Anything on the following:

    • Exhibitions/ shows
    • mad experiments/ skills
    • process techniques
    • favourite locations
    • interviews
    • gear/ materials reviews
    • plain-old camera-geekery

you know the score.  If not, just take a look at our previous efforts - more of the same please!

The only rule is  - Keep it Film.

Anything else goes (unless it involves goats).

All we ask is that you run your idea by Ed or me first and we can advise on the tech stuff like transferring large movie files/ formats/ editing and so on.

Jonas, your messages have been getting to me....I've just not be getting back to you. Sorry!

For free, simple editing in Windows I install the video editor which comes with the Windows Live suite, "Movie Maker" (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started). As long as your camera records in the right format you'll be fine. However, don't let that stop you as any issues I have regarding file formats are always sorted out by using either Format Factory (http://www.pcfreetime.com/) or Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) to convert them. Both are free and 100% awesome  :)

Seeing as how we upload all our video podcasts to Vimeo I would suggest you watch the Vimeo tips 'n tricks regarding Windows Movie Maker (https://vimeo.com/search?q=windows+movie+maker).

The only other thing which makes it easier for us putting the whole thing together is if you send us any music you want to include as a separate file(s). Sometime we need to trim submissions slightly to reduce running time or just to tighten up the overall feel....and it's hard to do this with music running in the background.

When you finish your piece and want to send it in, just get in touch and I'll send you the FTP upload details to get the material to us.

Finally, you may as well keep your videos at max quality until you send them to us. We'll compress them when we stitch all the pieces together.

Today I uploaded to YouTube a video I made on the subject of pre-flashing paper negatives. Here's the link:

Let me know if there's a better place to post this video. Hopefully someone will find it useful.

Hi Joe

The purpose of this thread is to ask people to send us video clips for us to include in our video podcast rather than for people to list their own videos ... Are you asking us to include this in a future video podcast? It's not really clear from your post.

Cheers

L.

I apologize for the confusion. Since I edited this production more as a stand-alone instructional video, I will post it to the Articles section of the forum.
