Thanks for the heads up. Mine was about to expire and I was having a serious debate about whether to renew as I'm not a big fan of Flickr (my fault as I don't use it to best effect).

[smug mode]Mine has always been free as I use BT for my internet and, for reasons I don't fully understand, that means I get free Pro status.[/smug mode]

I noticed that yesterday as well.  It means you agree to automatic renewals (which wasn't the case before), but hey - why not.

Thanks.  Been a pro member for years but it appears to have added three months to my latest subscription.  Cool.

I haven't decided if I'll re-up when my free time expires....I probably don't use Flickr as well as I could, but I like the discussion in the groups a lot (different than here--I do like here better though. Comments in Flickr groups can get lost easily, there's more continuity here).

Are you sure? If that was the case then i won't accepted it.

No auto renewals! From the Flickrmail I got after signing up:

On 22nd March, 2013, your account will revert to a standard free Flickr account. Don’t worry -- we’ll send you a reminder.

From what I remember it is because Yahoo provide email for BT customers - free Flickr Pro is a perk from that.
chasing daisies... - a blog about things
redspotted on Flickr - pictures of stuff

Me neither.  Since I was already a Pro member (without auto renewal by the way), I clicked the link and then a page came up with my new expiration date pushed 3 months past my existing expiration date.  Nothing about auto renewals mentioned that I saw.

I used to be a Pro member of Flickr but let it expire and go back to standard membership. The main restriction is being limited to 200 photos but I have got into the habit of reviewing photos and deleting some to stay under that limit ... I can't really see the need to have 5,000 images on flickr as I can't imagine anyone but me wanting to looking at them !

I used to get around that 200 limit by adding all my shots to a personal group. that way I could get to them through that ;)

I'm going pro now though. statistics are just too much fun ;D

I simply use a unique set of tags 'kittens hrd pron anime harajuku' and the Fickle search engine dutifully returns all the photographs I need. That they feel the need to promote free anything is a sure sign their user base, or those using Pro functions, is declining. Skj.
