Collaboration #29: I Give You My Best Shot
« on: November 19, 2012, 10:44:08 AM »
As 2012 draws to a close all registered Filmwasters are cordially invited to participate in Collaboration Number 29.

--------------------------------------------
Theme: "I Give You My Best Shot"
--------------------------------------------

This one's simple, people. Send us the photo - taken in 2012 - of which you're proudest; the one where everything worked out just so (whether by design, or otherwise!). Remember to please include a sentence or two about why you chose this particular photo. There is no 'time served' rule with these collaborations so don't worry if you only registered with us a week ago. Conversely, if you registered 6 years ago, but haven't visited the site site for the last 5, that doesn't matter either. Join in. The work we receive is always diverse and high-quality and the more people that get involved, the better the resulting gallery will be.

Unless you're incredibly indecisive - or haven't taken a decent photo in 12 months - it's hard to see why you wouldn't want to get involved in this collaboration, so let's give 2012 a memorable photographic send off!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Submission Deadline:  midnight Sunday, 30th December 2012

------------------------------------------------------------------

Basic requirements:

JPEG Requirements: One JPEG image.  Not larger than 800 pixels in length or width. No more than 200kb.

PLEASE use ONLY your name in the image file (e.g. "Roddy Nal.jpg")

**ALSO INCLUDE**

1. A sentence or two about why you chose this particular photo.
2. The camera, process and/or type of film used.
3. Your website or blog address that you'd like listed.

EMAIL SUBMISSIONS to filmwasters [at] gmail.com (please write "Best Shot" in the subject field so we can find them easily in our overflowing mail box).

Regards,
The Filmwasters Team

Yep, that's kind of the point this time round.....and it works timing-wise regarding the end of the year too.

Indeed!
I haven't been able to produce anything since I've moved from London,  the very little I could shoot is waiting to be precessed until I have my own space :-\

Mine's sent. No idea if it's my "best" as that's probably best judged by others. I like it, though.

probably best judged by others.

Is true, but the reason why we chose our own best photographs sometimes goes beyond estetic. In my case I probably had better ones to send but the feeling of the moment was more important.

Bit tricky to choose from my only half roll of film which worked... But I'll have another by the weekends so I'll hopefully be able to submit something :)

Took my camera out last weekend, but still having the film processed. It costs me £14 to have one roll of 120 done in Lewes  >:( so I take them to Brighton... £3! Will have them done and submit something, although since it doesn't close I might just keep gooiinngg... :)

And home processed probably goes for way less than 3 quid...

I know the guys know some great places to get cheap chemicals in the UK.
Good old Ilford ID-11 or Kodak D-76 (they're the same thing), some white vinegar diluted 50-50, some rapid fixer (simply 'cause agitating forever is no fun), a bit of demineralized water just before drying to prevent water spots. A tank, a few clothpins, a measuring cup, old soda or juice bottles (with nice descriptive labels so nobody drinks what's in them) and you should be in business.

I just checked Harman Express (the Ilford store)
ID-11 Developer: 5.36£
Rapid fix: 7.50£

You could probably find cheaper elsewhere...

When you look at some old book, they're both the same recipe. But it is said that they are now slightly different... but who can really tell?
