Book is READY
« on: November 09, 2012, 02:23:16 PM »
Hello everybody,

I am pleased to announce that the filmwasters book is ready to be purchased, including few more photographs and interviews as well as some corrected typos.

You will find it at the following link: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3706723

I tried to find out a soft cover option but I did not find it, may be with this book size is not possible.

Hope you enjoy it!  :)

Carlos.

it looks amazing Carlos, and thank you so much for all the hard work you have put in -ALONE- to see this through to the end. It really wouldn't have been finished without you my friend, so thank you once more.

Is there nothing we can do about the price? I couldn't afford £77 on a book, and I doubt many others could either. Are all the features set to the absolute cheapest options?

Thanks for the kind words Leon  ;)  I checked out at Blurb and seemingly the large landscape format has not softcover option, and still I do not know how much cheaper that would be. The only solution I can think about is to adapt the current book to standard landscape with softcover option and offer it as a different book. I think is not too much hard work, the pictures auto fit so you only have to resize the fonts along the book. I will give it a try.

Looks wonderful, Carlos! Clean, spare layout that really showcases the photos.

I forgot that I was part of this. A surprise and treat to see my pix among some stellar work.

Too bad about the price, but that won't stop me from buying one, or two, or three -- press enter, holiday shopping done. :-)

It looks just wonderful. Thank you so much for all the effort in putting this  together.

The price is very high! I guess Blurb want their several pounds of flesh! I will of course support it because it deserves support, but, if there is something we can do on the price it might assist marital harmony!

Mmmhh, I wrote somebody´s name wrongly (again  :'( )

I will delete the current book and post the new one and provide the new link (I will also update the link at the top).

I think this will not cause problems to those that have already ordered the book but please check out if your orders go ahead as planned.

These are £2.99 if I remember right and look soooo nice on the new iPad's display screen...

Well done Carlos :-)  Beautiful indeed!

Keep working on the pricing and please let me know if you need any help as I have some time this week. I'm very interested in making a tablet version as Miller suggests so will have a look at the process if you haven't already.

I hate to suggest it, because i understand the purpose of only putting one photo on a spread, but using both pages for photos would reduce the size and cut the book down to probably the $70 range. But i do agree that $120 is more than i am willing to pay for a blurb book. Looks great though, nice photo selection. Thought i did an interview but maybe i was too late. No biggie though, we take great photos on this site!

Ok, here is the link for the e-version. It can be downloaded to iPad or as an ibook. I set the price to free. As it is now anybody can get the electronic version. It seems there is not an android version.

I would want to echo this. smaller and less pages would make for a nice budget version for those who want that, including me :)

Many thanks for freely sharing this fine work.  I don't have any fancy apples, but I was able to convert to a variety of readable formats using Calibre.  Seems like this could be turned into a very viable Kickstarter project.

Carlos, the book looks fantastic... thank you so much for putting the effort to do this.

Unfortunately I won't be able to buy the book now (until at least I have my own house!). The prices are really high when I convert to my local currency... but I'll make sure I'll spread the word between the people I know...

Hi Sean, yes this might be the solution rather than just a smaller book I will look into it. About your interview I am afraid I have not seen it even though I am sure you sent it, sorry for it.

Hi Britt,

The book as it is now (large format) it´s available and will be in the future, it`s the reference. The electronic version, which is free, will live together with the large format book.

Given that the large format book price is quite expensive we are thinking of creating an additional smaller version.

I received my hard copy 2 days ago and I must say it looks real nice.

OK, thank you Carlos. Yes it is expensive, but still I prefer it instead of the electronic version. For me it is a "keeper" I will enjoy for many years, that is why I wanted the large printed version.

Really looking forward to my copy! ;D

Hi All,

Just published a smaller and reduced version (99 now, before 175 pages) of the FWs book. This version also allows soft cover so the price can go down to 36 US $.

As I had to reenter all the data I am going to post the book for 5 DAYS for any comments from FWs members. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE BOOK YET, I will post the final version in 5 DAYS time.

This is the link http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3765416

Thanks,

Carlos.

Hi all,

I Just posted the final version of the standard landscape FWs book, this one with soft cover goes down to 36$.

I have rearranged some of the pictures, trying to match as many authors as possible, I think it has improved the final result.

I have double checked everything, hope there are no typos or any other blatant mistakes this time..  :P

UPDATED LINK  http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3844944

If no comments are received in a couple of days I will make the electronic version available (I will do it this way because in order to activate the electronic version I have to pay few bucks).

Enjoy it!  ;D

O M G

I just received the book today when I got home from work, super quick delivery for standard selection.

I have to say I felt kind of emotional looking & reading through the book before dinner, not because I have a contribution in the product but because I have a connection with almost all of the contributors. It was a thin connection but now its so much more.

I think the production is really classy, and the images. . . are just. . . what word will I use? Beautiful, Fantastic, Magnificant, wonderful . . . inspiring . . .
I was familiar with most of the images, but viewing them in print on my table is a totally different experience to viewing them on a computer screen, the quality, mood and feeling from them is well
. . . Beautiful, Fantastic, Magnificant, wonderful . . . inspiring . . .

The insights from the writers is really great reading, I feel I know you guys more now.

I want to thank you all for sharing the images and text with me and thank you to the production team, well worth the €40 !

this place is just brilliant  :'(  :)
