An Early Weekend ... 20th Sept 2012.

An early start to the weekend.  I'll not bore you with all my holiday pics, of course, but you can expect a few more next weekend as well.  ;)

damiand. Those shots of your daughter are superb! And that is from someone who usually doesn't even look at child pics (whatever that now may be). As a series them seem to capture, and show something more than the individual pictures.

And as always. calbisu's Polaroids just blow me away. The bottom one with the cage gate is something of the best I seen in a long time. One of those pictures that leaves you longing for more.

I also got a giggle from Sandeha's 2'nd pic. The statue demonlike thing reading the map over the guys shoulder.

diane: nice wide view in that one!
damiand: that's some good portraiture. I like the relaxed feel :)
aksel: nice feel in that shot!

built a camera yesterday out of a mint box. the paper negs turned out quite interesting... I think my developer

still, it's an interesting look.

What a great start, people. keep 'em coming!!

Jonas: They look like jellyfish!  :D Cool.

Damiand: Very, very nice series; these are wonderful. I remember when my daughter (now 7) was that age; she used to be more than happy to look gorgeous while I snapped away for ages. That changed eventually - more's the pity - and now I have to be much quicker on the draw. The great thing about taking pictures of your kids at home is that you get to whip out a nearby camera whenever the light's perfect, or some other element of the setup appeals to you.

Great shots Charles, like each of them  ;)

Two more Polas from Khartoum.

Looking at them I realised that we are so much subjective when shooting (nothing new in the aforesaid I know), willing or unwilling, and even more if we are consistent in choosing our theme and style, we are giving one so particular version of what surrounds us; the spectator not knowing the circumstances around the pictures will undoubtedly believe what is placed in front of him as the honest truth, which is not more than one reality chosen between the different realities available.

A really varied and high quality thread again this week. Favourites, for me, (so far) are Damiand's set, Harvey's early autumnal shot, Aksel's moody interior and Andrea's first.

Mine is a grab shot of a fleeting glimpse of a Nikon F2 in the window of a shop in London. Olympus OM2n, 100mm f2.8, Ilford XP2 Super.

Some more to come later, hopefully.......

Great photos everyone, but so far I most like
Charles Binns pics, they are so great.
Gary, that is a wonderful, wonderful pic!
Diane, your panorma shot is wonderful too.

But most of all I LOVE the girl portraits by damiand.

Love britt's shot with that holgapan. As a matter of fact, all the holga stuff in this thread is awesome. Super inspirational.
I JUST finished processing a roll from an old ansco box camera. We shall see what it looks like once scanned. But for now...

Some LC-A+ shots from the same night.

Britt - quite wonderful.
Sandeha - all are great but the last one with the queue of people is brilliant.
PeterR - an exceptional set but my faves are first and third.

A few more from me. These tested my hand-held, slow shutter skills to breaking point. Taken at Tate Modern in London (fascinating building - shame about most of the "art", IMO....) Olympus OM2n, Ilford XP2 Super.

Late Developer, that last one in you post - the one from the turbine hall was just exquisite!
I tend to dislike anything taken in that hall, most likely due to have been "over exposed" to pictures taken there, but this one was really something. Thank you.

Cheers Aksel. I'm not a big fan of the place myself but it's only a few tube stops from where I work and it's "photographer friendly" outside of the exhibition galleries themselves. It's certainly not a "pretty" place but there's usually something happening or a new angle to shoot.
