Lucky Film ends color film production
http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2012-09/05/content_15736165.htm

China Lucky Film Corp said on Tuesday that it will stop production of color film products due to a sharp decrease in demand in recent years.

The company said it will authorize its general manager to clear assets related with color film products.

The Baoding-based company, a fully owned subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp, had revenues of 827 million yuan ($130 million) in 2011, up 13 percent year on year. The company's net loss was 55.9 million yuan.

The annual report showed that the profit rate for color film products was only 6.66 percent.

In January, Eastman Kodak Co — the world's leading film product maker — filed for bankruptcy protection due to the impact of digital photography in recent years.

Fuji Says It Will Discontinue Some Motion Picture Products
http://www.deadline.com/2012/09/fuji-discontinue-motion-picture-products/

Fuji has given us some detailed information about its plans following our exclusive report Friday that it will stop manufacturing motion picture film. The company, which handles about 20% of studio business, says that “due to the significant demand decrease resulting from digitalization in the industry,” Fujifilm plans to discontinue “some items” in its motion picture film products. Fuji says the discontinuation date has not been determined. Products to be eliminated include Color Positive Film, Color Negative Film, B&W Positive/Negative Film, Intermediate Film, Sound Recording Film, and High Contrast Panchromatic Film. But the company says it isn’t closing the entire motion picture department. It will continue to provide archive film stock (ETERNA-RDS, which won the Academy Scientific Engineering Award in 2012), lenses for shooting cameras and screening devices, media for data storage, digital data archive services and its on-set color management system (Image Processing System IS-100). Film “is considered the best solution for archival preservation,” which is why it will continue to make the ETERNA-RDS stock, Fuji says.

Thanks for this - that Hy6 looks fascinating. I'm guessing that the name comes from Hybrid. I imagine the price will be steep  :o

Mmmhh, the Rolleiflex FX-N looks sweet, I would not mind to indulge myself with a brand new Rolleiflex... and probably prices will be similar to existing second hand late rolleiflex models, fx and gx.

Carlos.

Awesome Rollei news. And I hadn't realized that the latest Rolleiflex TLRs even come with a built in light meter. I guess once I win the lottery I will buy one of those ...

The original Rollei is gone... DHW Fototechnik. http://www.dhw-fototechnik.de/ was formed a couple of years ago by former employees.

Actually I like more the old Rollei, I still remember the first time I saw it. I was in Hong Kong, on top of a tram I saw a tourist with a TLR, at that time I did not know which camera that was... It was love at first sight  :-[  I bough a second hand Rollei, I am afraid suffered some hard use from its previous user but it just works fine

+1 from me.

I spoke to a contact who worked on Rolleis and he was not very taken with the most recent crop either aesthetically or functionally. The 6x6 digi-back SLR looks interesting if you're into that kid of thing but I'd rather have an older 2.8 or 3.5 TLR.
