Developing a series
« on: April 10, 2007, 10:36:44 AM »
At the start of the year I set myself a few themes to pursue in the hope it would give me a bit more of a disciplined approach. I think it is helping me, and doing some still life work has made me think a lot more about camera controls, composition, etc. It has also made me think a lot more about the subject. Easter weekend provided a bit of time to develop some of the many rolls of film I have from 2 of my themes
1) Food (I've got a pic of an avocado on the beforeafter collaboration too)
2) Things washed up on my local beach (I haven't got an arty title for these yet), in this case on old boot which seemed to have a story to tell...

Here are 2 pics developed in the 2nd hand CPE2 and slight changes made in photoshop, comments very welcome

Cool, I really like the idea of photographing things that wash up on the beach. Maybe call it "message in a bottle " or something, cos you just have to wonder how that crap got in there in the first place...... I lived on the water when I was a kid and my dad decided to embark on a 2nd carreer as a shrimper after he took early retirement from AT&T.... the things we used to drag up in that net were pretty crazy. One time he caught a wter heater and it nearly capsized the boat!

Great idea.  I might go with 'in situ' for some of the beach stuff though.

Hope to see more of these soon!  :)

Love the boot  shot, full of potential, and its a subject you  should explore further. I  would try different backgrounds both created and natural. The idea of using found objects is a good one and you should have a fine portfolio of images in no time.
