follow up: things turned out alright in the end
« on: April 03, 2007, 09:52:30 PM »
ok - so I moaned a bit (catastrophised more like).  But I did manage to get 2 usable shots from the "not setting the lightmeter" fiasco at Crummock Water

here they are with a couple of others.  Still working through them :)

It appears that Leon is the master of catastrophes!
I can only dream of doing this poorly!   ;)
Leon, you must have a magic potion in those bottles of developer, etc.
I'm in love with the third print.  It's something you could build a room around!!!

Can't wait to see the rest!

Well, at least all was not lost.
Thank god it was only 2 stops... more would have been major trouble.

And at least you didn't do all the screw-ups I once did.

Mis-diluting D-76... boy was it a weak negative.

Using a (too) old changing back... and ended up with stone size snowflakes on my negatives (who knew the rubber impregnated nylon would shed the rubber into small particles...)

Now, I hope that helps everyone feel better ;)

I'm with Beck on this one, good heavens Leon! These prints are stunning.
This only goes to prove to me a light meter is not needed! (or is that just me justifying the fact that I'm too lazy to use one?)

I also look forward to seeing more.

thanks  - although I think I may have misled you a little - these were all exposed correctly. the under exposed ones were unusable.

Well, thank bejesus for that. I was gunna hafta get you rubbed out otherwise. These were just too good for normal photographs, and I thought they were your failures as well - sheesh. Regardless, the first three are just amazing. Almost IR-like, with detail even in such small jpgs. Really impressive.

All excellent, #2 is a killer!  :o

I'm extremely glad it wasn't a total loss, and thanks for sharing these with us.

I was going to accuse you of being the world's biggest drama queen – until I realised these were the good 'uns. And boy, are they GOOD!

These are superb Leon. Even if you had just managed to just get one of them then the trip would have been worth it.

thanks everyone for you encouraging comments.  I'm in the darkroom tonight (and by the look of things, throughout the Easter weekend -  :)) so I'll get printing them - cant wait.  I'll also be doing some wonkies for those who wanted them - sorry for the delay.
