Topic: back from my journey north

I got back from my trip to the north-east and north-west yesterday.  The weather was pretty much changeable for the whole fortnight so I had to adapt to the different conditions (snow and freezing winds in the lake district/ Yorks Dales and annoying haar and haze on the Northumbrian coast).  In my usual manic speed, here are a few neg scans from the 1st batch of rolls that I have developed.  they are a mix of delta 100 and hp5, both developed in pyrocat HD.  I;ve got a few 5x7 sheets, more 120 and a load of 35mm to dev yet, so fingers crossed I've got some to come.  The Wastwater shot is my 1st attempt at proper night photography - it was a 1 hour exposure in 1/2 moonlight.  I'm quite pleased with it.  the other two coastal shots were about 16 seconds exposures stacking various filters to slow down the exposure.

I really like the 3rd and 4th snaps. Would love to see the 3rd one nice and big. The first two are nice, but don't have the same impact to my mind....although I appreciate the work that went into them. I'm gagging to see some more. Get back out to your shed. No time for sleep!!!!

....actually on 5th viewing maybe the 2nd one is pretty damn good too. Need to see it bigger I think. There's some lovely weird stuff going on there that I didn't catch first few times round.

the first image has such lovely, bold contrast.  the night shot is so deep and palatable - the range of tones is quite amazing.  nice

All are beautiful Leon, but I'm most fond of #3.
Not sure, but might like see it burned in on the right bottom. But I'm on the fence with that...
No I take that back.
Actually, I'd like to see #3 darker. But that's me and I lean toward dark.
Either way, beautiful work!

All four are gorgeous, 1 & 2 (IMO) probably need a bit of dodging and burning to realise their full potential.

As always I am consumed with the fires of envy. I suggest that once the flames have burnt down a bit (give it a shade under three weeks) a pint would work wonders to finally extinguish them...!

Beautiful, beautiful pictures. No's 2 and 1 are my favourite and, like chocolate, I really prefer them dark. Can't wait to see the best of the rest.

thanks for your comments everyone. Frank - I'll get there extra early and have a pint waiting for you upon your arrival.  then encourage you to drink quite a few more and see how green you are the next morning.  I of course will be as spritely as a lamb full if life and vigour ready to face whatever weather Ross-on-Wye can throw at us.
