photo's from my son...
« on: March 20, 2007, 05:49:48 PM »
my son has been very into everything that i've done lately as far as camera work and making alternative photo's... so i very recently invited him to come with me on a little trip and taught him the basics about using a camera and just let him take it from there.  anyways... i've made a new blog at aaronboot.my-expressions.com and i will feature some of his stuff there along with some of my work.  i could care less if you comment about mine but if you could comment on some of his i know he would appreciate it!  he will be with me on future expiditions... it's part of a project i'm planning on accomplishing.  no idea the direction yet...

I will definetly check out your son's images.  Isn't it so much fun to share your passion with your kids.  I am currently teaching my 11 year old daughter to use a camera and how to print .  She is having a blast!!  I love seeing what she sees with the camera.

Mine has been begging me to set up a darkroom of my own so she can use it.  Not sure where I would put it but I think I will get her some black and white film. The only thing is every time I set her loose with a camera , she wastes all the shots in the car on the way to wherever we are shooting :)

Just give her a 1$ roll from the dollar store for the trip and hide the stash of 36 exposures for when you finally get there ;)
No whining and no wasting :)
And even if it's color C-41 film, you can process it in B&W chemistry. It'll take just a bit longer to process! It also takes longer to expose in the darkroom because of the orange mask... but that's only a side effect. It scans fine and gives a slightly blueish tint to the images (from what I've seen on the net).

Really? I did not know you could do the color c-41 in regular BW chemistry....hmmmm.  That is an idea though as I stopped even developing them because at the cost, its kind of expensive for lots of shots of the inside of my car;P

Yes, you get a slightly strange B&W image since it develops only one emulsion layer and doesn't activate the color couplers. Strangest thing is even after it's been fixed, it can still be converted to color by doing standard C-41... strange but it seems it's true.

Maybe it's worth looking into :)

This is a great idea, I tried when my son was younger to get him into it....alas I failed, he loves to look just doesn't love to shoot....Good luck Aaron....I will be visiting the website for sure.
