Filmwasters: Collaboration #27 - "Conformity"
« on: February 29, 2012, 11:12:26 AM »
All registered Filmwasters are cordially invited to participate in Collaboration Number 27.

------------------------------------
Theme: "Conformity"
------------------------------------

There is no right or wrong in a Filmwasters collab. You can be as literal or as lateral as you wish when interpreting the theme, but please take time to include a sentence or two about how your submission relates to the theme.

There is no 'time served' rule with these collaborations so don't worry if you only registered with us a week ago. Join in. The work we receive is always diverse and high-quality and the more people that get involved, the better the resulting gallery will be. So load up you cameras and get wasting film (and/or paper, glass, chemicals, tin, liquid light etc.).

------------------------------------------------------------------

Submission Deadline:  midnight Sunday, 15th April 2012

------------------------------------------------------------------

Basic requirements:

JPEG Requirements: One JPEG image.  Not larger than 600-750 ppi. in length or width. No more than 200kb.

PLEASE include your name in the image file name (e.g. "Susan L. Reflex - Conformity.jpg")

**ALSO INCLUDE**

1. A brief explanation of how you interpreted the theme.
2. The camera, process and/or type of film used.
3. Your website or blog address that you'd like listed.

EMAIL SUBMISSIONS to filmwasters [at] gmail.com (please write "Conformity" in the subject bar so we can find them easier).
L.

This one could be a lot of fun.

Should I not conform by not joining in, or would that be too obvious a position to take?

You could confirm your non-conformist credentials by posting an image that has nothing whatsoever to do with conformity....

Or I could go all post-non-conformist and contribute, but in an ironic way.

Actually, I decided to conform in a non conformist way by showing an extreme example of conformity as a way to denounce the ultra-conformism of a conformist society...

So in order to do that I've decided to adopt a non conform format to present conform content in a non conformist way....... now, I'm the one getting mixed-up  :P

Just sent in my image :)
A surprisingly early start for me... and a surprisingly different style altogether. A lot more intellectual and conceptual than my usual...

Waiting for mid April is going to definitely be a long wait :)

I've got one or two ideas but I'm probably going to have to see if I can find something "stronger" on the topic at the meet in Southwold on 24/03. I'm back up home in Manchester (auditing - yawn......!!) all next week. I'll take a camera with me, as usual, but I'm struggling to think of anything specific that fits the bill. However, I'm not panicking yet - I'm sure an idea will pop into my head when I'm least expecting it.

Mine came to me this morning. It's clever, cunning and (I hope) not impossible to shoot. Very relieved.

Ended up going for more "funny" than the more "edgy" idea I had in mind in my submission :) And whoa, submitted way before the deadline for once!  :D

Going into the darkroom this afternoon for the first time since before Christmas to dev 21 films including one which should have my contribution to the current collaboration, which I took yesterday morning.  Trouble is, I'm not sure whether it shows conformity or not!  I say yes, my wife says no.  And she should know - she studied the subject :-X

Roll up. Roll up! There's still time to come up with something for this testing theme.

Me too....although I had to change plan at the 11th hour due to BOTH my Land Cameras now being out of commission. Went with the same concept, but had to use a different image.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I'll find time to upload the photos to the gallery tomorrow during UK working hours so stay tuned for an update.

Mine sent just under the deadline, I think.  (It's not yet midnight here anyway.)

Great set everybody.

I struggled with trying to get an image for the theme but wouldn't have come up with any of these images. They are all lovely.

Particularly love the humour in Diane's shot, there is always one in a group portrait who has to stand out with a funny face or some other childish antic. ;D
