My DIY Rolleiflex Lenscap
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:50:49 PM »
Years ago when I bought my Rolleiflex TLR it came with a plastic Yashica lens cap fitted on... it doens't quite fit well but does the job. That was fine...until I bought my Yashica TLR with no lens cap.

I've been looking for an original cap for my Rollei but the prices aren't really friendly, maybe at the next photographic fair in May I might be lucky to get one, but in the mean time I decided to do my own Rollei lens cap just for fun... ;D

The cap fits really well... I just need to remember not to put in my pocket when using the camera :P

Nice work--the Polaroid graphic makes it!

Pretty sweet!
Too bad cameras are non-magnetic. That would have made the nicest lenscap!

Maybe I should save my pennies to get myself one of those nice 3D printers and start making replacement caps :)

Oh yes... those 3D printers are great,  I could probably build a whole camera for sure!

Hi Sapata, i bought my 2.8 Rolleiflex TLR cap at Amazon for 29 dollars.. and for the 3.5 there is one from 19 dollars. The 2.8 was metal made, the 3.5 I do not know. Your cap is very cool though  8)

Here is the link for the 2.8  http://www.amazon.com/Finish-Biometer-Xenotar-Coupled-Rolleiflex/dp/B003G8DSRA and here the one for the 3.5 http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Lens-Rollei-Rolleiflex-Cameras/dp/B005ODKBN4/ref=pd_cp_p_0 hope it helps.

That's a sweet looking lens cap! I've been dissatisfied with the lens cap of my Yashica Mat, too. I have to use a rubber band to hold it in place which is quite annoying. I guess I could use my mad paper skillz to make one myself. I just never thought of it!

Thank you Francois. Unfortunately I don't have the that much time anymore. It's fun but it takes just so much time. Maybe I should give up photography? ;)

Thanks Calbisu... I never thought Amazon would sell them :P

I'd call that "extreme origami" !  :D

I can do some really nice origami crumpled balls  ;D

Actually, I used to to a lot of it when I was a kid. From leaping frogs, water bombs and swans to dot matrix paper rip stars, little hearts and decorations... I think I did the entire book. I also had quite some talent for exotic paper planes...
