Hi Matt and all Filmwasters - just joined the group.
I received a Z2000 for Xmas from my wife and really like the results I'm getting.
But I had exactly the same problem with film warping. The pic shows the actual warp before any 'fixes' were applied.
Three 'fixes' were suggested to me:
1. re-tension the spool spring clips,
2. add washers under spools,
3. add spacer to the platen area.
Re-tensioning the springs was the easiest, but I don't think it made much difference as they were already applying a fair bit of tension to the film. Next were spacers on the spool shafts which made the wind-on stiffer and so created more drag. This produced a slight improvement but as the wind-on was fairly stiff to start with this made it too stiff overall, so I removed them.
The best fix however was adding a sheet of very shiny plastic to the back panel of the film plane. I used the plastic cartridge that Fuji FP100c instant film sheets sit in. It was exactly the right thickness and super slippery and so created no additional drag. I simple cut it to the right size and used a bit of silicon to hold it in place on the rear panel. That worked like a charm... Anything of the right thickness will work, but make sure that it's fairly 'slippery' so as not to create unnecessary drag. And don't forget to cut out the hole for the film# window!
Cheers,
Keith
