Polaroid 195 cover...
« on: January 06, 2012, 09:27:36 PM »
Thanks for Sean's excellent tutorial on 195 face transplant, I am able to use the 195 again... ;D

Bad news is that my gf threwout the black cover for my 195 ( I also had a spare one salvaged from a 250, she threw it out too... :'( )

Anyone has one to spare?  ...   oh, did I mention the cold clips she threw out with the cover all together?  :'(

Just for a little contribute,  here is the cheapest FP-3000b I found. No connection to the seller whatsoever. I shot a pack today and it worked like new.

yeah the 195 covers usually sell for $100, so good luck finding one! the auto covers don't fit over the 180/195 lens. there is someone on ebay who sells custom 180/195 covers, melts and forms regular covers, but i haven't seen them on ebay for awhile. think they were around $40.

i left my 195 cover in a semi-abandoned building in shikoku after taking a long exposure shot. it was falling apart and held together with tape, but it was better than nothing.

how well pola works after expiration depends on many factors. i have 107 from 1977 that works, and 669 from 1989 that works, but also have 667 from 2009 that is dry.

Thanks Sean. I didn't think they would cost money... :'(

The 250 cover worked fine with my 195, even when a filter attached.

Hmmm, it shouldn't fit! Even my 190 cover doesn't fit with the filter on. Must have been the odd man out!

Well, if stuck in a bind, you could always vaccuform one yourself.
Vaccuforming by itself is not that hard. There's a good how to on Instructables. All you'd have to do is make a shape that would be the right size for the camera (don't use the camera itself... I can almost guarantee a lot of problems with melted plastic everywhere around the lens.

You could use some soup cans, tape, cardboard to make the basic shape.
