Great start, Hookstrapped.  Even on the computer monitor the beautiful grain stands out.

Merry Christmas, all.

An excellent start

Hookstrapped - beautiful subject and well realised on film

Dynamo - that's stunning! love the oil on water effect in the reflections

One from today.  A dull day outside, and not so bright inside neither!

It's a test shot described in Recycled Parts.

was going to shoot this week but got lazy. went to see sherlock holmes instead. have been messing about with bleaching fuji fp-100b. think i pretty much have it as perfected as it can be...it was cold so lots of solarization.

What a start to the holiday!  I went out with the Ikoflex and a roll of new portra 400 last night.  Unseasonably warm and a rain shower had just passed.

Beautiful shots Peter... love the subtle swirl effect on the background of this one...

Not an effect I personally like to be honest but typical of these simple lenses. I always believed it's caused by vignetting of the lens (though there's various theories about) and this lens does vignette at wide apertures. All these were taken at f/4 as it was a dull day. The vignetting in the third image was natural - I didn't add it - which shows how bad the lens is in that respect.

The third image really looks more a vignetting than a swirl to my eyes... and I personally love this kind of effect ! ;)

I guess the Yashica D is also fitted with the 3 elements Yashikor lens, apparently the 4 elements Yashinon is much "better".  An option would be getting a broken body from a Yashicamat for exmple on ebay and swap lens .

I have the 635 with the Yashinon and I really like the effect on the background... this was also taken with F3.5 or 4.0 on a very dull day as well.

To me this week so far I specially liked Hookstrapped first one, nice, and Diane's Holga from Paris, very Parisiene. And the couple examples of twirling blur, which I have found couple of times in my Polaroid 195 and Pentax 67 with the 105 2.4.. nice both lenses I would say.

Agreed. I think it depends on the type of background. Plain backgrounds just vignette while complex ones produce the swirl.

Or may be the swirling can only be perceived in the complex ones, but still existent in plain backgrounds.
