World Toy Camera Day
« on: October 02, 2011, 03:27:27 AM »
Just a reminder that World Toy Camera Day is October 15 this year.

This is the 9th year!

Can't believe it's been that long since the first one!

I do not really understand how World Toy Camera day works. Are you just supposed to go out and shoot with your toy camera and that is it, or are there blogs or groups that want you to post your images to a world toy camera day collection? I know this is a stupid question but I have to ask.

Thanks!

Erin - it is a day that you shoot your toycamera/s and then post your pictures wherever you like.  Simple as that really.  :) I guess that as Toycamera.com is not so active now, the best thing for us to do is post them here :) I think there is a flickr group too.

Leon is correct, there are lots of WTCD blogs/sites online that will showcase WTCD photos.
There is indeed a flickr group, several in fact.

I'm going to share my pix here at Filmwasters and on the flick site above.

WTCD started out as a way for toy camera shooters to go out and enjoy their toys.  I hatched the idea nine years ago after enjoying a World Pinhole Day, so I basically copied their idea and started WTCD.  It's taken on a life of it's own since then.  It's really huge in Indonesia, which is great since it means more film use around the globe!

Thank you all so much for the info on WTCD. I honestly never understood it. Same with pinhole day. Im a late bloomer.  ;D I would love to post some pix here if we start a topic on it, and the flickr group. I think I'll use my new Brownie.

Thanks Becky... After a while, I thought the thing wasn't as appreciated as all the work I put into them...

I might see if I have some leftovers I could use :)

That would be great Francois!
I always thought they were well received, I know I certainly enjoyed seeing them!!!
I even copied one and placed it at the photo lab I use to help promote WTCD several years ago.
