Space, the final frontier...
« on: September 12, 2011, 10:19:08 PM »
I just got this and WOW! Is it some rarity to keep on a disk or what?
If you ever wanted to either fly on the Space Shuttle or have one of those nifty space Hasselblads, this is the closest thing to it.

From the site:
As a guidebook for the NASA Photography Training Program, it not only describes the operation of the Hasselblad 500 EL/M cameras used on the U. S. Space Shuttle but is also a concise manual on photography to assist astronauts in creating the best possible space photographs.

It's a PDF file and it's hosted on the Hasselblad website :)

Enjoy!

That was a cool manual to read. Specially the tips about Space Photography. But this is what I liked the most:

NOTE: The meter is battery powered.
There are no spares on-board.
Indication of bad batteries is a flashing meter

Quote
For white only scenes: Open 1 stop (f/11 instead of f/16)
Reading off white cargo bay: Open 1 stop
Reading off white space suits: Open 1 stop
Reading off blue space suits: Close ½ stop
Reading off suntanned fleshtones: Correct
Reading off black fleshtones: Close 1 stop
Reading off black only scenes: Close 1 stop (f/11 instead of f/8)
good to know! :D

seriously though, that's a good starters manual!

I got this through the Make Online feed... MAKE

But here's a Google hacking trick for all to use:
You can search only a single website by searching for the site: tag
eg.: site:www.hasselblad.com
and you can search for only a specific file type using the filetype: tag
eg.: filetype:pdf

Combine them and you get every PDF file on the Hasselblad site
site:www.hasselblad.com filetype:pdf

You might be able to find other stuff on their site :)

That is interesting...nowadays there is a lot of redundancy on board, they have spares of everything now.

That was a cool manual to read. Specially the tips about Space Photography. But this is what I liked the most:
