Simon Norfolk (mostly for Ed's benefit.......)
« on: August 10, 2011, 12:40:35 PM »
Just a quick line to let you good people know that there's a multi page article on Simon Norfolk's "collaboration" with John Burke in the September edition of the UK magazine "Outdoor Photography".

The "bad news" is that the photos at the exhibition were taken on a Phase One 45 MP medium format digital camera. Nevertheless, the photos are beautiful and are taken from the Norfolk / Burke exhibition at Tate Modern.

Ta for the pointer, Paul. I'll do some more digging and see whether Mr Norfolk has gone entirely digital, or whether he thought the format would suit his second Afghanistan assignment and that he'll be using his 8x10 LF rig again in the future.

Any mention of that in the article?

Hi Ed.

No mention that I recall. Mind you, I think I'd take whatever kit I could use as quickly as possible whilst getting the standard of shots I was after. Had it been me, a quick drive past with an instamatic would have been the order of the day and then get the hell out.  :o

There is an offer to buy the rather large, hard-back book of photos for £40 (I think) which is pretty good, given the production quality, if you're really into this guy's work.
