Ditto that; the way the clouds repeat the arc of the land in the second one is very dramatic.  It really pops off the page (screen).

Nothing new to this weekend, but one from the last batch (Montreal) that I didn't post before:

I'll join Leon down by the sea this week. My first infra-reds of the year (and looking out the window possibly the last!). Efke Aura taken on the Canon Ftb.

I bought a small lot of old cameras on ebay in the spring, including an Ansco Shur Shot.  It more or less works.  Here are two shur shots made on tri-x, developed in Rodinal.

great start to the weekend

wonderful Seasalter pics again, Leon.

Another one from a coastal shot from me, but I managed this time to not just take snaps of boats and beach huts and piers (I did that as well of course!)

I don't think I've ever been so early to post in a weekend thread. Making up for being too buys last weekend to get around to it. These two were shot on the same stretch of road on the way to Reykjavík, Iceland (southbound). These are old shots but I just got around to scanning them today. Enjoy  ;D

Generic BW macro #647; Snail climbing rocks ;D

“Til AK við höldum”

This is one of those sitting in a car that is traveling at top speed, seeing something out of the corner of your eye and raising your camera *click*

its nor very great at first sight, and im not even sure I still like it, On the shack is a graffito scribbling in Icelandic “Til AK við höldum” = To AK we journey. AK is an abbreviation of Akureyri, a town in northern Iceland. The subjects in the picture appear to be a Man/Woman and his/hers young child trying to hitch a ride while wearing less than full winter gear which raises the question as to where they are going and why? Looking at the image and seeing these coincidences merge is probably the only reason I’m posting it.

So before I went to see Hookstrapped in the gallery, I stopped by the lab to pick up a bunch of color negs.  This is one from the Montreal trip that I'm pleased with.  Not quite a grab shot (I was waiting for her to get in the frame) but I had no idea if I caught her at the right point.  Portra 160, Exakta VX IIa with a Trioplan 100mm.

the weekends keep moving back...

Phil, that's one of my favs now!  I love those chairs.
Vicky, that's a stunning portrait!  The color is so perfect!
Thom- I must try some coffee stain, this is great!
Terry- that's a nice one, I love the mood of it.
And Harvey, I'm a big fan of infrared film.  I must dig mine out of the freezer and use some of my stash soon.

Great weekend shots from all.

And yet another.  I call this 'why Montreal is cool' because it is literally something I stumbled upon walking along Rue Sherbrooke one day.  Where would you see a discarded bit of 35mm lying on the pavement these days?  I felt validated, in a way.

In a lot of olds cameras, purchased this spring on ebay, there was a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye, in which, apparently, the previous owner had flipped the lens.  Tri-x developed in Rodinal.

one more of nicki on hp5...a bit of a mixed bunch really...i think it's quite hard being faced with a complete stranger and shooting before you really understand how they look.
i was looking at her other portraits taken by other photographers and seeing how different we all made her look...most noticebly i seem to have added a few years on to her which i think she likes :)

Mil, you may need to resize as your images are being presented square due to the size. The Friday night wine had me confused for a while!

Some beautiful shots this week. Highlights for me are Heather's cyanotype and Vicky's portraits. My own are the final couple from Aldeburgh - a couple of under-exposed but rescued shots of a Punch and Judy show. The black and white is a Silver Efex Pro monochrome (infra-red) conversion from Velvia 100F as I didn't like the colour version at all.

I've got a few films to have processed and I'm off out to a shoot tomorrow so, hopefully, some fresh stuff for next weekend.

This is interesting, before the forum used to resize them for me and you'd have to click on them to see them full size. Now this is not happening. No idea why!

thom - I like the shot quite a bit, and also the idea of staining with coffee.  Will have to try it.

Terry - the colors are very nice!  I shot my first roll of Portra160 this week.  Some of the images are scanning quite green, so I'm doing the research now to avoid that.  Seems others are getting the greens too.  The film is pretty wonderful though.

blaxton - Fantastic!  haha  :-)

Mil & Phil:  On my machine they appear with a slider bar at the bottom that allows me to scroll left and right and thereby see the whole image.

Jeff:  Wow--that's the first I've heard of Portra being biased toward the greens.  I like it because it renders blues so well.  Maybe it's scanner settings?

Hi Terry,

I'm hoping it's just me.

These are from the same test roll and the images were taken less than two minutes apart, although you can see there is more Sun in the second image.  It was about 8PM so I was expecting warm tones.

The first one looks pretty good to me, correctly showing warm and cool stones on the house.  But the second?

This one is uncorrected so you can see the issue.  It doesn't seem to matter how I adjust the scanner; there is so much green that I can't get it to show the color of the stones correctly, even in Photoshop, although my skills there are pretty limited.  Still working on it.

Cheers,

Jeff

Andrea.

Coming in late again. Lots of great shots by all. Standouts for me are Leon, Harvey, Phil, Vicky, Sapata and Heather. Vicky, I have to get my shots up on Model Mayhem and get more work. I love your shots!

Here is mine. My new granddaughter, Brylie, at a little more than a day old. Shot with the Bronica on Ektar film and only slightly softened in PS.

Jeff--that's truly strange (the green tint).  I haven't seen that before with Portra.  It's like somebody sneaked up behind you with a green light just as you made the exposure!

I'm still digging through the negs I got back on Thursday.  Here's another (Phil might like it!).  It's Ektar in the Pentacon Six with a Zeiss 80mm.

Thanks Phil--we both have rust in our veins.  I had gone out with the Pentacon to document the Parkside Diner, an old haunt of mine that has just closed for good.  The bowling alley (still in business despite the derelict-looking sign) is nearby so I grabbed that one.  Here are a couple more from that excursion:
