Another large chain of labs moves on...
« on: May 16, 2011, 09:04:54 PM »
Just wanted to jot down a quick note:
I went to my local Costco and asked how much it costs to process a roll of 35mm film only to be replied that they now only do Digital...

So, in my region, that makes Walmart pretty much the only place left for 1 hour processing... and my local drugstore for 3 day work at a slightly lower price.

That is sad! Out here, labs are increasing in number. There is one at Walmart and Target, which are right down the street from each other, and on the same street as Walmart and Target, there is a Walgreens and Rite Aid that have 1 hour labs too. So that makes 4 of them now and maybe 2 years ago there was only Walmart.

Hate to hear that about Costco! I use them for some of my color but not much anymore since I started doing my own.
They are a bargain at $4.95 roll though.

Walgreens and Walmart are alternate choices for small stuff around here too, but it's expensive.  $ 9.00 roll for 35mm color.

9 bucks?! That is pricey. Target is 99 cents process only for any length 35mm and Walmart is 2.96. Not sure what the other two places charge but Im guessing it will be 3 or 4 times as much as Target or Walmart. They are for everything else so it might be up to 8 bucks.

Sometimes, Francois, they dont know how to scan it and even though I tell them its 99 cents a roll, they ask me for just a dollar for all the rolls. I once got 3 rolls developed for a buck. Now, they did mess up 2 rolls of very cheap film once but only once.

Tkmedia, I might have to check out Walgreens then. Thats a good price.
