Weekend thread it´s an Asian early bird
« on: April 28, 2011, 11:31:17 PM »
From last weekend trip to bangkok. These are from the chinese neighbourbood part of town. You can get lost there and spend lots of time shooting. Brought with me the Pentax 67 plus some Kodak Tmax 400

Oh my word Carlos!  Definitely were walking in a wonderland and my favorite breath-stopper is the 4th one - the guy with the gimongous lungs!  So surreal, so fabulous!  I cannot stop staring!!

Wow Carlos!! All the shots are great but that third one just takes my breath away. The way the light so perfectly lights up all that wonderful detail in his torso is hypnotic. But I also really love the second one too.

Sean, Wow!! You too!!! Stunners, both of them but that first one really knocks my socks off. Holy cow, what a great beginning to the weekend thread!!

nice framing with the wood, chris. it feels as like I'm there at the counter

moominsean, nice feel - as always. I always feel like you show the soul of the barren lands..

interesting shots, calbisu. there's somtheing with the rich blacks, scant tint away from grey and barely visible subjects.

I've got some scanning done this week - hope to have the time to get something up when home :)

Carlos, those shots are great. I Particularly like the last two.

Diane, I love the movement in the washing.

Terry very kindly offered up his Horizont pano camera at the end of last year (I think it was) but I've been a bit tardy in getting my act together recently and only just got out to shoot with it. I had a day off earlier this month and went to the UK photographers standby Dungeness. I'm really pleased with the results although the wind on mechanism is really tight and I'm going to have to have a look at that.

No by nigelrumsey, on Flickr

I think it must be the tightness of the mechanism which is causing the banding on the film.

I love the pano pics Nigel! The subjects and the colours are brilliant...

I had a few shots left in my Polaroid 600 for years, they're my very last 779 and was expired in 2005. Last week I decided to use in order to get the empty cartridge so I could try fixing my SX70. It turn out the cartridge had just enough power to eject about 5 shots. Thanks to Miller, I was sent by post a fresh empty cartridge to be able to do the job.

Anyway... here's the two shots I thought worth posting

Another great weekend thread. Love Thom's series - especially "Joe" who reminds me of a mate of mine back up north in the mid-70's. Moominsean's photos are also standout and Nigel and Chris N's shots are just beautiful.

Mine are an odd mix. B&W is an old garage forecourt taken on Tri-X via M6 TTL. The colour shot is on my (now departed) Canon F1-N and 20-35mm L using Fuji Velvia 100F

Nigel--I love what you're doing with the old Horizont.  I never coaxed anything out of it!

I'm having better luck and more fun with my Ikoflex(es).  Lovely cameras to tinker with--I had never toyed with TLRs before and I find I'm getting hooked.  Some more random shots on Fomapan.  I souped these in Rodinal at 1:100 and got involved in something else as they were developing; net result one hour over time.  Amazing how it all came out pretty well in spite of inattention to time.

You guys are all such inspirations to me! I'm fairly new to photography and having a blast reading this forum! Here are a few of my favorite shots from last weekend in Birmingham, Michigan, shot with a Holga 120 modded for 35mm Tri-X 400.

Mil- love yours, and Paul some really nice work from you.

Hard to pick a fav this week, but Phil, I've stood on that same spot in Terlingua and will be there again next month so it tugs at my Texas heart.

More weekend developing from a roll of Legacy Pro 400 in the Canon AV-1 I bought in 1997 as I couldn't afford a fully manual SLR (and I already had a Zenit E with a broken metre).  Aculux 3 10:45.  Cornwall in Feb.

yesterday was my spouse's birthday and I was tasked with pulling out the monorail and taking everyones portrait. Out of 30 portraits, these are a few randomly selected to scan.  Fuji fp-100c45, in descending order: the birthday girl, our daughter, our son, and then friends. My spouse moved a bit before I took the shot and the lens tilt caught her at chin level ;-)

No scanner to add anything presently, but as ever countless cracking shots.

Miles - what beach is that in Cornwall in Feb? I live there and spend most february weekends on cold beaches like that, trying to get the wetsuit on and off as quickly as possible! Luckily the sea is warming up now.

Gregor - those portraits are really really great.
