India Undertakes Ambitious ID Card Plan - Hello Ilford?!
« on: April 18, 2011, 11:55:22 AM »
Yo. saw this on the tellie this weekend: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/26/world/asia/26india.html

and from the footage they showed... Idk, looked like they were using webcams to take the photos.
I've heard before that Ilford has been supplying and relying on film for ID-cards in that region for keeping the company alive.

so if they're using film: great news for ilford!  :o :D

but if not...  ???  :-X :-\

anyone here heard anything about this?

if this was a problem for Ilford, surely we'd see some kind of response like a MASSIVE hike in prices of film and paper.

Oh ... we just did ....

Actually, the hike in price was probably due to the 46% increase in silver prices over the last two years...

Actually it's due to the rise in petrol prices aka transport cost of materials both in and out. The silver costs mere pennies per roll compared to all the other stuff that goes into making a roll of film or a box of paper.

I could find the quote from Simon Galley confirming this if you prefer.

Guys - it was a tongue in cheek comment from me. I like stiring the consprational cauldron now and then. I'm sure there are many reasons. Life is more and more expensive here in England ...
