Hello everyone,

I'm having fun with my 50mm lens and the Diana+ lens as a lo-fi close-up filter on my Nikon F90X. However sometimes it would be great if I could get more into the shot (like a bigger flower). Am I right in thinking that a wider lens would help with that? I don't own a zoom right now so I don't have a way of checking myself.

I haven't used close-up filters in ages... but these things can be quite counter intuitive.
On extension tubes, I noticed that the wider the lens, the more magnification I get.

But using a magnification lens, they make the lens work normally (like you described... I just tried it with my digicam and the front element from an Ansco Viking)

Yes, wider would mean lower magnification so you would get more in shot.

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can find a wider lens for the camera then.

You are right! We do own a zoom lens for the DSLR, we just never use it. I guess that's why I didn't think of it. Thanks for testing.
