I'd like to second that, I've just been looking at the terrible images online. I do hope everyone is OK.

Just seen this on BBC website. The scene looks dreadful.

Sincere wishes that all (including all our members, their family and friends) are okay.

We've had confirmation that the Skorj's are ok.  Hope the rest of the FW asian contingency and their kith & kin are safe and well.

it's devastating ...can't imagine what they're going through....thank goodness for so much great architecture and engineering or it would be so much worse.

When I heard the news, my first thought was of Mr. Skorj. I'm glad to hear he is OK.

as far as i know, i'm still going! it's still like 10 days until i leave...spending bit of tourist money is a good way for me to help.

yeah mijonju was tweeting and posting on fb and flickr through the entire thing! ken and brian were on twitter and fb as well. i was awake at work all night so i watched most of the activity live on NHK on my phone soon after it started. one of those things that slowly built up into something worse and worse than it initially seemed.

looks like the aftershocks are further and further apart....

Thanks all! No problems in Tokyo, not so the case in Sendai & Iwate though. Appreciate the thoughts. Skj.

yes - it looks very worrying Carl.  I never stop being surprised by fate's ability to make terrible situations a whole lot worse.

That's why I've pretty much stopped watching the news. If something's important, you hear about it anyways.

Thanks all.  The family and I are safe here although I have some friends who have family missing in Miyagi (where the tsunami hit).   Hope that they get in contact soon.

I'm not gonna say anything sweet, just gonna be straight, wish you and your family well and hope your friends get in contact with the missing family.

I'm also relieved to hear my friend Tom (a toy camera photographer) is safe and sound, his house is literally on the other side of Fukushima..
