Topic: Rescued Polaroid

My dear mother was clearing out the junk in her loft and found a Polaroid Land 1000SE in its original bag in mint condition (she reckons she used it once and then got bored with it) and knowing her daughter is a photographer/collector of vintage cameras what does she do with it? Throws it in the skip! Luckily I got there in time to rescue it!

Anyway, I'm a total polaroid newbie, the film is massively overpriced in my opinion, but I am willing to buy one pack and have a go - can I use any Impossible Project film with it? Or is there another I can use

Hrm I must suck at googling today but I can't find a 1000 SE, the 1000 S looks like a standard 600type point&shoot which would use Impossible's sx-70 film.

Cant wait to see your pix Suzi!!! I think you can still get TZ Artistic on eBay. The prices are the same or a bit higher than TIP film. I bought some once and didnt have much luck with the goop spreading in a good way but I think it was way past its due date. Thats a nice looking film too. I like it a lot.

Goop? Uh oh.. I have no clue about polaroid film. I'm guessing I store it in the fridge?

The most important thing is to store flat, not vertical.
I store my 600 in the fridge... never in the freezer.

I think that is debatable. Some people have said just store it flat in a cool dry place and others say to put in the fridge. I am guessing that in a place that gets really warm, putting the film in the fridge during the warmest months would be ok, if you dont have air conditioning. Otherwise, I think a cool, dry, dark cabinet works best.

The goop is the emulsion. In the integral film its in the wide part of the boarder around the actual image. In peel apart its in the paper.

I warn you though, you might get hooked on this film. I sure did. I never liked Polaroid when I was younger and now I cant imagine living without it.
