A couple of absolute stunners. As good a start to a weekend thread as I've seen....

I've managed to pull my back or I'm suffering from sciatica / trapped nerve. Not sure if I've got anything to post this weekend, though I did shoot a roll of 3 year out of date 120 Provia last weekend. Hope to have it processed this weekend...

Yashica MAT 124G, Fujifilm Neopan 100. Developed last night from last weeks outing. A bit of a touristy pic local, but I heard someone wetting the walk as I passed so I decided to take a snap.

Some great stuff already.

Sean I love the Konica/Polaroids....

The first shot is from an Agfa Clack that I just picked up.

Just a bit of fun while out for a walk with my son.

Off to an excellent start.  Spooky forests again--I like it.  And the car turning the wrong way into the one-way street in TK's shot.

After our snowstorm we got freezing rain--it gives an interesting sheen to the snow.  This is a Seward Johnson sculpture of a kid reading.  Must be a great book...

Wow! Great stuffs all.
Some in detail: Suzi- love both of them. Diane- that's the coolest, most punkest framing I've ever seen. Harvey- the 2nd is cracking.

I don't have a scanner close so I snapped a shot of the print with my digicrap- too tired to worry about reflections but excited about finally getting to shoot my new (to me) 101 land cam. It seems to work:

Lovely street photos from Amsterdam and NYC.  The shot up the subway steps looks very Audrey Hepburn-esque and the nighttime shots of Amsterdam make me wish I were there and not here!

You can probably figure out what I was trying to do here, but got busted by a cop before I could really do it.  No tripods allowed in the subway is the rule -- I imagine because it could cause an obstruction.  I was off to the side away from the pedestrian flow but he wasn't having any of it.  Will try again...

Suzi, wonderful fair shots! That second is a dream.
Sean, I just love how the center of the house in the first shot is so, so bright.
Diane, what a wonderful shot! The truncation works very well with your subjects and where they are.
Tkmedia, fantastic morning street scene. I can hear that water hitting the sidewalk!
Harvey, Wow! Moody, mysterious and wonderful. Those woods shots are like a magnet to my eyes.
Chris, fab color in that first and what a great pola portrait of that youngster!
Terry, very humorous capture! It looks like the reader is trying to read past all that snow.
DS, congrats on the landcam! And what a great shot! Not sure what to think about those shoes. Are they creepy, or trashy. LOL!
Carlos, saw that first shot on Flickr. I just love it!
Mil, love the shots but that first one of the bikes at night is my favorite.
Hookstrapped, great, great mood!
Peter, love your landscapes and this one is no exception. I love the contrails coming out of the top of the tree.
Phil, I just cant get enough of your photos Americana. Honestly, I just love the old signs and the old trucks. Im finding myself looking for them now.

Here is my contribution. The shot is a little busier than what I normally like but it's working for me in this shot. I am not sure how the solarization happened. I can only imagine it was from getting hit with too much light. Whatever the cause, I just love accidental solarization. This image was shot using expired in 00 Polaroid 55 film, a 545i back, and my Crown.

DS, congrats on the landcam! And what a great shot! Not sure what to think about those shoes. Are they creepy, or trashy. LOL!

I think they have been discarded by a drunk person. This road in Leeds is full of drunken students so my assumption is that some footsore person has discarded them and chucked them into the graveyard in a fit of pique.

I tell you what is creepy though- check the flickrmail I just recieved:

I can but agree with all that Mojave said. What a stunning thread. Hookstrapped's first shot is just amazing with that fantastic backlighting.

I've been a lazy so-and-so this weekend. Trying not to jar my back and sorting through some old negs. Here's a few from a roll I took 09 November 2007. I'd taken a days holiday and was trying out my new (then) toy. I had an M6 in those days. These were shot using a 35mm f2 Summicron-M and 28mm Voigtlander f1.9 Ultron.

Thank you so much Carlos! I love this film so much, words fail.

LD, I am really enjoying your interesting perspective. That third shot is really startling and I love that!

Here is another I took last night. I am carrying around the combiplan tank and so far its working well. I found a cheap, Camelback knockoff backpack that the tank fits very snugly in and the empties fit in the outside pocket. I carry one bag, two backpacks and a tripod out shooting now but it works.  ;)

Hookstrapped--I love that last subway shot.  It's very dramatic and the blurred people really punch up the apparent confrontation going on.  That's fantastic.

I've been tinkering with some TLRs, most recently an old Ikoflex.  I completely stripped it down (except for disassembling the shutter mechanism--that's a scary looking thing) and rebuilt it and ran the first test roll through it yesterday.  This was the best shot off the roll; there was some scratching of the neg going on in some of the frames.  I think I have it solved, pending another test roll.

Thanks for the comments all. I admit these are my favourite of all my recent snowy/frosty/foggy pictures as I feel I have captured a bit more of the atmosphere of the place rather than taken a 'nice snap'. I really envy you lot who manage to get something a bit more personal into your shots and even tell a story (Hookstrapped), something I need to try harder with. But my mumblings aside, what a fantastic week for Monochrome, love them all. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thank you Dynamo and DS!

Dynamo, those shots are fantastic! I love the artifacts and the lines. What exactly is an Agfa Synchro Box, and what exactly did you have to peel apart? I have never heard of this camera and googling it showed me some pix of them, and they look like pinhole cams maybe, but I dont know for sure.

It's the latest Agfa boxcamera (produced: 1951-1957),
6x9, 120 rollfilm
Fixfocus lens: 105mm (2m - infinity)
portrait lens: 1-2m
f8 + f11 and a yellow filter, 1/30sec + B only, thats all.

Here's an image – in the foreground my new "portrait lens" (not tested yet)

> .....what exactly did you have to peel apart?
The film was very old. The film and the paper were sticked together. It was very difficult to remove the paper. Lots of paper fibres remained on the film.

Late inclusion, but it's been a busy weekend full of house guests and going into the city centre for the Chinese New Year celebrations. Anyway, here's a moody one from December which I just scanned this evening. Joe, making tracks across a snowy tennis court in Cornwall on Christmas Eve, 2010.

Polaroid Land Cam 360 + expired 125i.

You can probably figure out what I was trying to do here...

Titarenko? Shame, it would have been great. I'm really glad you're posting shots of you guys out and about in the city. I'm drawn to them more than the interior shots...not sure why. I think your style suits the streets and if you can marry that with the model-centric nature of your work in a believable way (as you have done with these two shots) then you're onto a winner. It's late I should be asleep instead of spouting bull.

Yup, something along those lines.  I learned a couple things from this first try that will help me for next time.

I appreciate the comments.  The straight nude shots I'm not going to pursue -- they're too passive and have been done to death.  But, to tell you the truth, I'm going for something a bit surreal as in this shot (NSFW), which the Titarenko style shot would go with, at least in my mind.
http://hookstrapped.viewbook.com/album/exhibitionlabproject#6

I want to explore the idea of young women coming to the city and owning it.  That's their ambition, their dream.  I want to inhabit those dreams for a moment.

Thanks again.
