Fabulous Mugshots

I have the book "Least Wanted" - just love the old mug shots.  Here's a site with more gorgeous portraits.  It's worth a scroll through :)

That is terrific!  I wish they had written what the crimes committed were.

Some of the faces look very innocent so it makes me wonder what they did to wrong the law.  ???

Thanks Ann, that's a great find!   :)

And yes, his name is Bill G****

So what was Billy G charged for? Being in possession of a criminally bad jumper? Not to mention that cravat thingy (My gran has done the same jumper trick to me but the cops didn't see it)  ;D
There's more to this photography thing than meets the eye.

Billy was arrested for running a stop sign in 1977.

I guess there is lots to smile about if you are arrested for only running a stop light :o

amazing pics - thanks for the link Ann

this guy is my fave ... look at that hair.  It must have been quite something in 1929. Mind you, it's nothing a good dose of clozapine wouldn't sort out, I dont suppose ;)

Leon - I hadn't seen your post and I picked out the same guy - that really is quite a head of hair!

I haven't yet googled clozapine but I'm guessing it's not good.

I have never seen this site before. LOVE it. I love this kind of thing. Right up my alley too. I started to do a series of these but only managed a few photographs. I submitted one of them to the privious collaboration.

Here's the one I saved. I was inspired by the gal below.

From a pocket book of petty criminals. Published in 1957 by the West Riding Constabulary.

I was particularly taken with the offence of Welshing which seems to be less serious than Larceny but more serious than Loitering.

Sorry about the quality of the scan!

Awesome, awesome photos! I too wish they listed what the crimes were for. This woman here reminded a lot of Trinity from The Matrix.

Leon I loved that one too!! Hahaha!  His hair is a veritable Party!!

I love Michaelson's Least Wanted and highly recommend it - - it's mesmerizing photographic collection from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s. Often with the charges against them.
