Topic: A Reminder on For Sale/ Promotion of Workshops/ Books etc Rule.

Hi All

I just want to give you all a gentle reminder of the Housekeeping section of the filmwasters forum. Particularly the thread titled "please read this first".

We try to keep Filmwasters completely free of any commercial activities. From our side we offer up a site that's 100% independently funded, free of annoying ads, sponsoship etc. and from your side we'd appreciate it if you steered clear of using the forum to promote your own magazine, shop, gallery, online auctions etc. Obviously forum regulars get a bit of a pass on this so there is a bit of leeway under some circumstances, but we would really appreciate it if you contacted us either via the Gmail address (filmwasters [at] gmail.com) or via a personal message to any of the forum moderators.

any of our regular members will always be ok to post a for sale post, but only after emailing us first.

The reason we decided on this policy was to stop people joining up to only use the site for free advertising and not contribute to the forum for any other reason. We want to prevent the site being bogged down with commercial content, and we are convinced it will if we don't monitor this closely.

In addition to the above it's worth adding that the 5 of us are currently considering whether to start up a separate board for members to list sale items - as has been mooted previously. This may be a workable alternative to the main boards being flooded with non-contributing members trying to off-load their wares and then disappearing into the night, but we need to implement it properly.
