Nice to see a non-profit festival taking place in the UK. Makes me wish I was the old me again; no kids, job or wife...then I could come along. To be fair though, I'd rather have the kids and the wife than go to a photo festival. The job? Nah.

All stupidity aside, Chops, thanks a lot for linking to this one. Damion might be able to get along as might some of the other Filmwasters Midland massive. Did you go last year?

Hi Chops,

I live in east Anglia, so East Midlands is within easy reach for me. The dates leave a fair bit of leeway, so I see no reason why I can't visit one of the events. However, whilst I've checked the website, I'm struggling to see any "specifics" on what is happening, where, when and at what cost.

It's possible I've missed a link on the site so, if you could point mwe to the right bit, I'm definitely up for something like this.

Incidentally, the Magnum event in Nottingham looks good. I could maybe do that and visit the Fay Godwin "Land - Revisited" show in Bradford on the same day........

Cheers. Paul.

Hi Choppert

I'll be there on the Friday and Saturday for the conference and a few of the talks and I like to get to at least 7-8 of the exhibitions so it looks like it'll be a busy few days. Great theme for this year's conference and are you and other FWs who shoot street work aware that there's a Mob Format competition that you can enter through the website with six different shooting themes?  I've already posted a few - and there's already some very good stuff up there, a fair proportion of whoich looks to be on film.

Hi  Just returned home from two days in Derby.  Great time had - some stunning photos seen and photographers heard with quite a few good workshops and talks.  Now feeling more than a little 'cultured out' but must report a really good event that's really well organised with a great vibe - must be the most upwardly mobile of the small number of UK photography festival these days.

Thankfully the bookshop was quite small but I still had to dig out a few brass farthings for two new(ish) books from Dewi Lewis publishers on two photographers using good old analogue monochrome film stock.  One based in Berlin and one of Italian origins now working in the UK.

Michael Ackerman: - http://www.agencevu.com/photographers/photographer.php?id=1

Giacoma Brunelli: - http://www.giacomobrunelli.com/pictures.html

Both books highly recommended to other FWs.

I went for the opening weekend and had a really great time. The was a relatively large turnout of film users which was really nice to see.
