LOL 'rare and collectable' purest fine perspex. Buy it– I'll see you on antiques roadshow in 50 years with this at the Sévres porcelain stand  ;D
There's more to this photography thing than meets the eye.

Awww, give the guy a break...!! It's not as if he's starting the bid at £100 or claiming it's made out of lead crystal cut by the hand of Rene Lalique  ::)

My guess is it'll probably go for less than the cost of postage...If anyone's daft enough to pay money for it, good luck to the vendor.

On a similar note, I was amazed a couple of weeks ago when I was considering buying a Lee "Big Stopper" 10x ND filter. These can be bought new for less than £90 from Lee stockists and yet a second-hand one was on "the big auction site" and had amassed a dozen or so bids with the top one being almost £140.

Well Ed its a rare occasion I get the leather zip up fetish gear on in winter to look for medium format gear and low and behold there was the Bronnie stand, I nearly feinted with excitement.

I had a neighbour many moons ago who used to cajole these stands (albeit 'Nikon') from the local dealer and would display his cameras on them on the mantelpiece.  He then changed to a spanking new Leica M5 and did the same with little red plastic plinths.

To give an insight into this sort of mind, he came to me and proudly boasted that he had bought all the 50mm lenses (meaning each aperture version) and was wondering whether his next move should be the 35mm or 85mm range.  He was not a collector.  He actually used the stuff to shoot his missus with her hair in rollers and the kids lying on the floor watching telly. Over and over again.

Oh well ....

I feel a bit ashamed, my cameras are all piled up in this heap on an end table in the corner of the living room.  Just a giant tangle of mechanics and ..... duct tape?

It sold for £8.50  :o

Okay at least it didn't go into the rubbish and then into landfill thus taking 95,000 years to break down.

See, you are a geek!

Walter: That's a great story, thanks for posting it here. I love the idea of someone getting every 50mm lens for a specific camera/mount. At least he used them.

Well, since you asked, the CSS for the forum uses the following fonts depending on the OS of your client (e.g. computer, phone, hairdryer etc.):

font-family: Trebuchet MS, Lucida Grande, Verdana, Georgia, Serif;

Pictures are pretty much looking like they did on my old Commodore C=64 ... nonexistent  ;D

I should have hacked the CSS file to reproduce the original Commodore header  :P

That's awesome, Francois....but you know it's going to skew my stats and force me to start designing FW for 8-bit browsers. Gah!!

Well, if you want the CSS page, I can send it over... just imagine people's faces when opening up Filmwasters and seeing the old 8bit screen :)

I wonder if it can handle sys codes for running assembly programs ;)

sys64738

nope... doesn't seem to work  ;D

(by the way, Opera for 8bit computers doesn't exist really. It's just a browser hack they made years ago to show the power of CSS files :) )
