Workshop - done
« on: November 29, 2006, 04:25:55 PM »
I've done the workshop (see 'workshop advice' thread). Boy, was it hard work.
16 A level students with no experience of non-digital photography and not a clue what an Aperture was. We had fun making a Camera Obscura - they were amazed by that and it took them a while to get the concept. Then we made pinhole cameras, took still lifes and portraits with them and developed them in a make-shift darkroom in the stock cupboard. They all came away with at least one properly exposed paper negative that they can scan and muck around with in photoshop, and some idea of the magic of 'proper' photography. The time went incredibly fast so we didn't have time to do any contact printing or hand coating processes but there's always room for another workshop! Thanks for your advice guys.

Do you have any photos to show us from the experience-  I'd love seeing some.
It sounds likeit was loads of fun.

I can only imagine the expressions on some of their faces when they figured out what was going on.

Nice one Janet - well done.  And I hope you managed to get a few Fw.com plugs in along the way?

I'll try to get hold of the scans they make, but I had to leave the negs with them so they could include them in their workbooks.
