Bad news for Instant 4x5 film
« on: November 12, 2010, 06:42:22 PM »
When the impossible project was announced I've always hope that one day I could put my polaroid back in use, but the latest email I got from them does not look really promissing...

Yeah they said that awhile ago, but plan on making 8x10 again. I see they are selling nine boxes of 809 right now for about $500 a box. Way too much for me but comparable to eBay prices (some are asking for $1200 for a box).

They are selling Polaroid 57 right now. There are 3 different expiration dates, 06, 07, 08. The prices are high but I think some folks will pay it. It ships only from their European location.

I guess there is always someone that will pay the stupid prices and so prices will always be high.

Though they'd mentioned this earlier, I think I remain in denial, even after yesterday's "reminder".  Fuji better not ever stop...

Well, for now they're the only player in the game... unless sales really drop, they have no reason to drop it for now.

And I doubt sales will drop.

They are also selling 809 for 330.00 US. I think it was 330.

Yes, they said that quite a long time ago, because all the machinery was destroyed. Ilford actually wanted to buy the machinery and made an offer, but Polaroid (the shmuck who's in jail now) gave them two weeks to get the millions together or they were destroying everything. Wouldn't even give them an extension. Had Polaroid not destroyed the machinery, we'd likely have 4x5 peel apart film right now.
