Weekend beginning 9th July
« on: July 10, 2010, 04:07:40 PM »
Well, seeing as how I took the forum down for 24 hours over the start of the weekend, the least I can do is crack up this week's 'weekend' thread. I was out taking some 5x4 portraits this morning so I'll post any good ones later...but for now I'll leave it to you lot to provide the images. I'm going to jump in the paddling pool and drink beer. It's been a long day.
 ;)

Scanning photos from a recent outing.  The first image is from an Ilford Sporti and the last two from my Mamiya 645 Super.

Congrats on a job well done with the new 'upgrade'.

Here's my contribution for the w/e. Shot this on an old Kiev Rf that won't rewind so I have to take the film out in a changing bag. Still, works ok otherwise. I thought I had some 100asa film in the thing but when I looked at the leader I could see it was Kodak Fine Grained Positive - which has an asa of about 5. So, developed the thing in print developer for 4 mins and got some nice results!

Looking good, Miles. Really interesting double image/shake on the left. I like.

I finally managed to get a portrait out of Amy today. Her price was one lollipop per photo. Tachihara 5x4 with expired Polaroid Type 72 film. Goop scan.

Nice one Ed, The lollipop worked!
Phil like those rampants colors.

From my side two with the Pentax 67, ISO 3200 ilford, I went to a party and brought with me the peeentax. At the end it was not so bad, I ligthmetered the three different lighted areas and then shot with the waist level finder. The other one is a POlaroid 669 in the studio

@ Otto- Nice first shot, reminds me of the beautifully photographed Robert Redford/Brad Pitt movie A River Runs Through It.

An oldie but as the World Cup final beckons (going orange) I thought appropriate.

I finally managed to get a portrait out of Amy today. Her price was one lollipop per photo.
My mom kept bugging me to take a picture of me with the old Polaroid... Somehow, I feel the warm weather was more tolerable with a popsicle. (and no, it wasn't bribery!)

Dear all,

I am a newby on your side. So I want to introduce myself. I come via "Wiesmier`s photostream" on flickr. I suppose it´s Andrea....
I´m an old chap, that started with a Kodak Instamatic more or less 40 years ago....
After a long time shooting with a Zeiss Ikon, a couple of Nikons, an OM 4, I ended with a D 200 and three
old Rollei´s (Rolleicord, Rolleiflex 3.5 and a Rolleiflex 6008). After a prolaps I faced problems to handle the Rollei`s and decided to buy a second hand Mamiya 7 II with a 65mm lens.

Status today: The Mamiya could be the love of my life, the 6008 is in hospital right now, the OM 4 recovered from serious traumata...and for the Polaback of the 6008 a bunch of Impossible project items arrived.

I learn everyday from your photographs and the three trailers have been my nightcap over the last weeks.

Many thanks to you all!!

Longshadow...welcome to Filmwasters. Thanks for the introduction and for posting such lovely opening photos to the forum. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Becky: I echo others' sentiments w/ regard to the infrared pinhole. Lovely, lovely, lovely. It has a movement to it which is something I often look for in a good photo.

Some more great stuff this week. Ed I love the portrait of Amy, that's summer wrapped up in one shot.
Calbisu, your first shot is a beauty - for me it has a touch of Butch Cassidy about it!

Otto! I buy cameras there all the time..the great thing thats happening right now is that the owner is getting a hugh lot of cameras in (not unpacked yet) and saving them so I can look before she even puts them out..and she lets me decide what I want to pay for them..I have purchased about 8 Kodak Brownie Hawkeys & 3 Brownie Bulls Eye... from her and several other vintage cameras..can't wait til Thursday to be able to check them out!  will report back....:<)

Longshadow-that crimson red in those flowers is exquisite!    :)
Carl- the portrait of the last lady reminds me of Kristin Chenowith (sp)  I love them all.  :)

All this portrait work is wonderful.  And who can resist a lollipop or Popsicle??  It has given me ideas for bribes in the future.....    :) :)

Nigel, what an inexpensive way (unless you bought from the lomography... ;D) of getting sharp images! The lomo lens is gorgeous and it's hard to believe that it comes in that cheap plastic body... Do you have hard time focusing the image ? I have one of those and it's hell...
Anyway... your pictures are amazing !

A couple more Infrared from me this weekend. I've already put some into the Infrared??? thread but in order to share the love around...! May have gone a bit too far with these exposure wise. "Soot and Whitewash" as Father would say but I guess it's all down to personal preference :)

A very strong showing this weekend, people. Props to you all. But then, pretty much every weekend has brought something worth looking at in this thread since Skorj started the ball rolling with these semi-themed posts a couple of years ago.

Sapata, I had the same thought about Nigel's Lubitel photos; super sharp. He must have got the one decent Lubi  :D

Miller: I really like your footy pitch shot. It says 'South London' to me, but it could have been shot anywhere I suppose. Shame about the Orange. I started out that way prior to kick off, but it was close-run thing because I have some Spanish allegiances too and after about 5 minutes of the game I switched. Thought the Dutch had been lucky towards the end of the Brazil game re not getting anyone sent off & they were worse against the Armada.

Carl: I love your contribution as always, but like others here the last one in particular stands out. The eyes and the hair. Lovely.

Ed, love the 4x5s you've been doing lately.  Gets me excited about some 664 that's on it's way (my fave gooping film).

Carl, Beautiful.  Longshadow, I'm amazed that a 1700 pixel wide color photo can be reduced to 39KB. You'll do just fine around these parts.  Overall a great weekend thread.

Just getting around to scanning some 665 taken with the hassy. Wash & fix? nah..... don't believe in either!
