...guess I was wrong. Read this and weep (or chuckle). Personally I'm not sure what to do with myself after reading this.

There's also the iPhone app,  Hipstamatic which can give either a Diana look to a picture (I don't call digital shots photos) or a Holga look... Interchangeable lenses (virtually) and multiple 'films' to choose from.

Good for shooting from the hip and only 2.99 USD.

Oy Vey.

Hey, I'm more than happy with digital cameras and iPhone apps with different hipster looks etc., but paying for 'film'...it's mental.

Whilst this is an appalling scam there is something entertaining in the concept of putting the financial restraint back into picture taking.  All photographers who use film know how having a finite number of frames sharpens up your thinking processes but this does seem to be a particularly cruel way to teach this concept to users who probably have no desire to learn it!

Ben, I like your charitable view that the originators of Lomora possibly had the development of their users' photographic skillz in mind when they introduced this pricing model on their product, but I suspect that in reality there may have been a slightly different motive at play.

This is damn crazy - part of me admires them for the nerve. I guess for every crazy idea there are a number of idiots waiting to be fleeced! An App I can do without I think!

That is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen! I'd love to know how many they've sold.

At first I thought they were going to say at the end of the 36 shots they send you a set of prints in the post. (hey - that's actually quite a good idea!)

Un-be-lievable...
My eyeballs are still round like marbles out of disbelief...
They actually stole the concept used with the Poladroid app (which is freeware for mac & PC... you can convert
only 10 images to Polaroid before you have to shut down and restart the app to load in a new film)
and turned it into a money making machine...

It blows my socks off...

we just need to make a Filmwasters app.    :)

The subscribers sign up and we tell them how to NOT get fleeced, where to buy good cheap cameras and film,
tell them where to get processing done  or even how to do it themselves etc. etc.

Oh, wait, we kinda do that already!    ;D

I like the concept. An app for all phone cams which, when launched, puts a blob of text on screen to the effect of,

"This is a digital camera. Be proud it's a digital camera and use it as such. This camera not a film camera. If you want to make your images look like film images we humbly suggest you and buy an actual FILM CAMERA and some REAL FILM. Both of these items still exist outside of museums and are available in exchange for real money in a retail location near you or online."

....OK, so Don or Gordon could have come up with something wittier, but I gave it a shot.

 ;) :D

This is so ridiculous, I had to share with my hubby and most likely my future photo students! WOW!!!! Kudos for the developer of the app though, ppl will pay for the most insane stuff - and be happy about it! :)

Very clever idea for making money and I bet enough people will buy a couple of "films".
There's one born every minute.

haha hilarious, the scary thing is many iPhone users WILL do this, I LOVE the gullable consumer.

do iPhones come with a brain? it is the only way i can see people buying one as they are severly lacking the cranial department in the first place. (no offense to iphone users, but the amount of people here that slag of lomo its untrue, atleast lomo encourages the use of film, without it i think many companies would have atleast ended certain film lines by now, and would we even have the impossible project with out the crazy hipsters looking for that instant fix?... hmm i feel a new thread coming on)

anyway sharing this link with the world. THANKS!
