Got a VG condition Ansco Pix Pano. Willing to trade for something that entices this octogenarian. So???

Those of you who haven't tried out an Ansco Pix Pano may find this of interest. On one hand it's just a simple cropped frame 35mm camera (i.e. the pano effect is achieved by 'letterboxing' the exposed area), but for some reason they do seem to take a great picture. They were sold in Europe under a different name, but they're the same beasts. I haven't used mine in a long while, but they were very much in favour years ago when I used to hang on of the toycamera.com forum.

I used to enjoy taking a series of images with mine and then stitching them together a la David Hockney and others. Here are 3 examples; the first two from Hawaii, the third one from South London.

Now that Ed has endorsed the piece in the manner he has, I REALLY need to be enticed.

From memory, the Ansco Pix Pano is the same as my Vivitar IC-101 (probably minus the awful gold color of mine). Like most things by Vivitar, it produces very pop colors by itself. Thumb driven film advance. No flash. No hotshoe. Does have a nifty slide-in lens cover and a rewind crank ;)

Quite hard to frame properly... strangely, I didn't enjoy shooting panoramas as much as I would have thought...
But good camera none the less.

From the only time I really used it... back at World Toy Camera Day 2007... (that's the only picture I still had on my drive)

Not quite as fantastic as Hawaii or as exotic as London (or vice versa)...

Of course, Francois, we must concede that Ed's expertise surpasses yours so his images take precedence.  Just kidding!!! Maybe.

Had the Viv IC 101 too. The Ansco seems better in an inexplicable way.

Still waiting for trade bait. Try me. I'm easy.

Are you sure Ed?
The middle one looks like the pond in the middle of the common

No problem and no offense there. I was completely lost when I used mine. I find I'll have to paint the surround of the viewfinder flat black. The shiny gold paint makes using the viewfinder a nightmare with all the reflections it creates.

Francois, the Ansco is a very sober black colour...maybe if I'd had a gold one I'd felt uneasy with it too  :D

Euge: Damn! Busted again. It is of course, the boating lake in Brockwell Park, Brixton not the Pacific ocean...as you correctly point out.  ;D

Lakes are a pretty strange thing sometimes. Here, lakes sink in a loud crack every spring :)

near the top of this thread ..Ed posted an image in four parts..(yes, I know it was four seperate panormana's) anyway..this totally intriqued me so I found a panorama camera and then put a selective focus on it and went to work playing with the same idea Ed had..this is the result..I had a great deal of enjoyment coming up with something somewhat like Ed's...His was beautiful!

How intriguing! I picked up a cheapo pano camera at the thrift store and haven't had a chance to try it out. These inspiring images will def. make me get out and get something done! Beautiful images!!
