The Kyphoto favorites classic site is always stock full of repair instructions and tips. It's one of the first sites I check out when I need to repair something. Always good information and tips. They also have quite a few instruction manuals

Nigel,

This is the guy I mentioned to you that I buy my light seals from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/pilgrim18/

If you know the thickness and type you want then, if you contact him, he will supply just those types, rather than buying the complete kit.

Peter, thanks for the link I've ordered one of his complete sets. I've been meaning to replace the seals on my Canon A1 for some time, so I'm going to do both and I'm sure this won't be the last camera I buy with dodgy seals.

I replace the seals in my two Mamiya RB67 every few years.  For those of you more adventurous, I found this dense foam sealing material at Michael's (a craft supply store on the left side of the pond). It comes in 1mm and 2mm thickness, and it is adhesive backed. I cut what I need from the master sheet (which is 8?x11 inches, or 216x280mm), remove the old seal, and place the new one in. Best thing is, these sheets, which will seal about 50 cameras, are a couple of bucks each. Cheap!

If you're not as adventurous as these guys you can also just buy a pre cut set for about 10EUR from this guy: http://www.kameradoktor.de/film-camera-light-seals/ And if he doesn't list your camera you he will tell you how and where to measure and will make you a set based on those. Oh, and you get two strips of each kind in case you make a mistake. And in case you're wondering: No, I don't know the guy ;)

I did that for my Minolta X-300 as I really didn't want to cut foam into 2mm wide strips.

I really didn't want to cut foam into 2mm wide strips.

I use very sharp scissors to cut the foam. I've found it easier than trying to cut it with a knife and straight edge which is what's usually recommended.
