Call me crazy!
« on: May 07, 2010, 09:25:17 PM »
Yes, you can call me crazy! And I won't mind it!

I went to yet another rummage sale today. And as you probably already know it, these places are my main shopping spot when it comes to cameras. And since everybody thinks digital is so much better I get their stuff for cheap. And today was a good day. When I woke up, I felt like saying "be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting camewas! Hehehehe!". But unlike Elmer, I came back with eleven point & shoots. Surprisingly they all seem to work just fine! There was even a Vitoret in the lot!

There was even a digital camera still containing pictures!
There's even a British Racing Green Polaroid...

Some cameras will stay intact, like the gorgeous Fujica and the Vitoret (ripping apart a Voigtlander should be considered sin). While some of the cheaper other models will likely be used in one contraption or another.

Anyways, here's something to drool over :)

Great news about the Vitoret...a real find. The rest I'm sure you'll put to good use!! In the UK our equivalent to the rummage sale is called a 'car boot' sale. There are a few monster ones just south of where I live and I've resolved to attend a few this summer. I'll be looking out for film though rather than cameras. I have a fantasy about finding a bumper stash of 665 at one of these events. Most likely we'll be buying toys for the kids, but hey, it helps to have a cover story so I'm not complaining about that!!

 ;D ;D

This one was organized by a local church. Usually, film and paper are just dreams at these places... though I did find a roll of Konica 200 expired in 2005... I don't think this part was worthy of a mention :)

I must admit that when going to these places, having a cover story is a must... though my mom has developed the ability to see right through me so inventing any excuse has now become quite useless... But on the other hand, she will gladly take part in my camera collecting madness so I can't really complain (yes, mom is nice to me :) )

I used to have a vitoret just like that. It was a great camera.

I know it feels quite quirky to use. With the long-ish wind lever arc and bottom mounted frame counter, I can't say they busted an arm on the ergonomics :)

I do have one question about it: while looking at the film advance drum, I noticed it uses a single claw to hold the lever... doesn't that rip out the last sprocket when you wind back?

Wow Francois!!  I'd get lost in decisions!  How do you even choose which one to use?

I think it's somehow pretty easy. I instantly fell in love with the old Fujica.
Hefty conception, good grip, funky design, drop-in loading through the bottom (reminds me a bit of a Leica), 38mm lens that opens up to f/2.8...
Probably my first choice.

There's also a fixed focus Minolta which I heavily modified last night... Still needs a bit of work and a lot of testing but I think it's promising :)

Thanks. Considering the whole lot cost me about 15$, I can't complain.
