Frederick Scott Archer Ceremony
« on: May 03, 2010, 07:36:05 PM »
Just a quick note to say that I had the honour to participate of the ceremony held to Frederick Scott Archer last saturday 1st of may and I really had a wonderful time !

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/photoblog/2010/04/remembering_frederick_scott_archer.html

I had the oportunity to met lovely people very passionate about photography, especially the wet collodion process. I was also able to see Carl and Quinn demonstrating the process which was something very inspiring... I have to start doing this at some point !

I even got my portrait taken by Quinn ...

Thank you guys very much !

If inspiration was needed to try this then your portrait does it.

Great stuff!

I really wanted to go to this, but couldn't due to family commitments. Did any other Filmwasters make it along? Do you have any snaps from the event, Sapata?

Lovely portrait, BTW. You must be really chuffed.

I would have loved to see the demo!  Your portrait is a dream!  Very nice to see you up close and grain free :)

A great day indeed! It was nice to meet you too Sapata! This image is stunning - one to be treasured. Collodion is basically grain free - there is no enlargement. Yes one can enlarge from a wet plate negative and you would see artefacts!

Hmmm, that last photo...glasses of wine and bottles of chemicals  ;D

Thanks for posting. Just a shame I had to attend a pirate party with my kids instead!

Great video... :)

Carl, may I ask you where do you guys buy the chemicals needed for the process ? I've looked on the web but most of the places are US based... is there any in London you could recomend? Kate told me but I totally forgot... :P

Thanks !

Great to see the photos.  Wish I could have been there too as I've become very interested in this fascinating process and the haunting images it produces.   Hope to catch you again soon Carl.
