Found this place today...
« on: March 30, 2010, 06:09:36 PM »
http://www.arundel-photographica.co.uk/

Didn't think places like this existed anymore. The guy has shelves stuffed full of film gear.

I'm staying just up the road for a few days so will have to go back and have a proper look.

Worth a visit I'd say for anyone in the area.

OMG!
Please go back and take some pic of that place and the shopkeeper.

What a find, and how cool to have found it.
Did you know it was there beforehand or was it a serendipitous discovery?

My heart's all a flutter....... :)

No, never knew it was there. He has a shop within an antiques centre that we were looking around. So a complete surprise. I'll see if he'll let me take some pictures.

Wow! It's only about an hour's drive from me so I may have to pay him a visit.

Great find

Damn! The place looks wicked. While you're asking him if you can take his photo, you could always get some digi video footage of him to include in the next FW video podcast - I assume you have some sort of digi capture device to hand? That would be great. Even just some shots of the shelves and the displays would be good for a few seconds of screen time.

Pictures have been shot and video taken. You'll have to wait til I get home to see it though.

When I first saw it was in Arundel, I thought "Eh! this is only about one hour and a half from home!" that is until I realized I was thinking about the wrong Arundel  :-\

Amazing place! Come to think of it there's a small camera store here in Heidelberg that has analog gear. And I used to live right next to it (literaly 5m from it) until a year ago, but never went in. I guess I should do that some day (before it disappears, I guess). On the other hand, I already have a Yashica Mat coming my way, so I shouldn't buy yet another camera. Well, next month maybe ;)

Well here's some pics I took in the shop. You'll have to wait for the next video podcast for the quick video pan I did.

If you want to play 'spot the camera', click on the pics for full size ones and zoom in on them. You should be able to just read the beautiful, hand written, labels that are on everything. I've already spotted a couple of things I missed while I was there - there's just so much of it.

The guy's name, by the way, is Chris Nicholls and he told me he has hundreds more cameras at home. So worth a call if you are looking for something specific and definitely worth visiting the shop if in the area. His details are on his Web site I linked to in the first post.
