Heading off to the LDN tomorrow morning and wondered if anybody had any good suggestions for interesting camera shops I might be able to seek out. Ta!

not exactly in central london, but Mr Cad http://www.mrcad.co.uk/shop/home.php is always worth a visit.  I havent been there for a few years, but if it's anything like it was, then it is a treasure trove of photographica.

Also, http://www.nicholascamera.com/  is a tiny shop full of interesting used gear.

Neither of these are known for bargains though ... some hard faced bartering in necessary if you're looking to buy anything at a reasonable price.

THere are loads more of course, but it all depends on what you are looking for.

I'd never recommend Nicholas of Camden. Have not heard very good manners and have only been in there once and although I wasn't interested in anything at the time so don't quite remember it, my husband does remember their customer service not being very good*

Jacobs have some overpriced used gear, Aperture have lots of nikon stuff but I can't afford anything there either. Aperture do have a very nice cafe though so I do visit that if I'm near the British Museum :)

*I think for legal, ass-covering, reasons I'm being coy.

I have to say my experiences couldn't be more different Heather.

There are few cameras shop around the British Museum, a very nice one is the "Camera Cafe" and as the name suggests, is a camera shop and a cafe... very nice ! Another one around there sells classic leicas and there was a Jessops Classic (although I hate Jessops...) in there as well but I'm not so sure they're still around. Sorry I haven't got the adresses but once you find one the others are pretty close ...
