What did you shoot this weekend?
« on: August 06, 2006, 09:31:44 AM »
I took Artsyken's FP-1 out with a pack of expired Polaroid Type-668. In light of Gary's conversation on shooting people in the street; one I took in plain sight (of the lady who makes my oyako-don who was running out to get restaurant supplies from the butcher & greengrocer nextdoor), the two others I asked (kid blowing bubbles, and some dude on his rat hog). Have fun. Skj.

Nothing this weekend (yet), but I did put a test roll through a newly-acquired Rollei 35 earlier in the week. I wouldn't normally post test snaps, but I'm rather pleased with a couple of them. (Low-res neg scans, I'm afraid. Film was Delta 400 in Aculux 2.)

I too have been test driving another camera, in my case a Fuji 6x4.5 rangefinder. I needed a lightweight compact for when the main activity is walking rather than photography. As it is a recent eBay acquisition I wanted to check it out in case it was faulty. I fired off a roll on the exciting subject of my backyard; pleased to say it passed all the tests. The film was developed in Prescysol EF and the attachement is a straight 10x8 on Kentmere VC Select. I think the exposure meter is reading a touch high so I shall derate the film about a half a stop to compensate.

Check out this nerd with a Fujipet...
I spent the past five days at Zion (and the surround area) in Utah. Shot I think 15 rolls with various cameras. This is on top of Angel's landing on Saturday -- 1500 foot drop!

Hey Frank, I love the English rain, gives a really nice feeling. Dave, if you think a Fuji 645 RF is 'lightweight and compact' you must shoot with a bus of a device normally? As for Sean, I do not know what is glowing so much, the 'Pet, or them legs... Nice to see such a diverse range of locations. Thanks. Skj.

Andrea.

Frank, twas lovely down hear all weekend!
Went to a cyclling race with my partner who was racing - a shot with my Elephant camera [modified Zenit E with bendy lens]. Hve not have the colour film developed but expecting - BluR!
Then I shot a roll of Tmax400 on the old Franka Rolfix with 6x6 mask. Lovely lens but not so good the scratches on the film. nothing to show for it!

Spent all of last week on the road. Headed back to the ol' homestead in Buffalo, NY to see family then, on the return trip, took a roundabout route to visit beck on the Western PA/Eastern OH border Thursday and tread in Lexington, KY on Friday. Shot mostly with the Flex when the weather wasn't too beastly earlier in the week. Got 10 rolls to process from the trip plus four more from the Illinois-Wisconsin border beer run last month. That should keep me busy for the rest of the week and out of serious trouble... ;-)

i didn't take this this weekend, but i got back a roll of double exposure experiments. i ran a roll through a brownie hawkeye flash then ran it a second time through a kodak duaflex III. results were a bit mixed, but i'm quite fond of the attached shot. there's a few more shots from this roll over on toycamera.com in this thread, and more of this spaceage housing in this flickr set.

I just LOVE those Space Age houses!  8)(where did you find them?)
Very nice picture...

I too spend a part of the weekend doing some camera tests in my back yard. I had bought a while ago at a rummage sale a Yashica 35mf. The camera looked mint. Got it for a song. Shutter is almost totally silent. I ran a roll of film through it... then I realized why it was dumped by the previous owner. On the good side, exposure was surprisingly on the mark. Focus is also decent considering it's a zone focus system (a face, a chest, two people side by side standing, mountain...)
But apart from that... hell on film.

The frame spacing is completely cuckoo. And when I went to rewind the film, the rewind crank broke... lets just say it was the first time I wound a film back in the cassette using a screwdriver! I tried to fix it... bad idea :-[. I now pretty much have a paperweight on the shelf. :'(

The Wenn Family headed out to a punk rock birthday picnic on Sunday afternoon and I took my Horizon 202 (first time I've used it in well over a year) and my own equivalent of Andrea's 'elephant' camera. Mostly people shots, but the occasional 'art' moment might just have scraped through.

BTW, I agree with Skj's comments re Frank's "lightweight and compact" solution. Perhap's Frank's usual cam of choice looks a bit like this one?

 :D ;D

Hi Ed,

Actually it was Dave Miller with the Fuji RF as a lightweight solution. Whilst both Dave and I use a C330S (a.k.a The Millstone!) for our larger stuff, I also have an F80 and now also the Rollei 35. (Gear accumulates, dunnit?!  :) )

I agree~ Great photo!!  I wasted some film myself this weekend, mostly shots of my doggie.  I don't get to see him much so he was the main subject in most of my pics.  I don't have them developed yet though.

What nobody knows is that it's entirely made out of space age plastic with helium filled pockets in the composite that help it weigh only a few ounces when loaded. :P

Why is it that nobody seems to believe me? Just ask Ed... He'll tell you how lightweight it really is  :D
