Topic: Heather's old darkroom

I got jealous of everyone cuz i've not sorted out a proper darkroom here yet. There's a severe lack of sockets in the new flat we moved into in february so we're trying to figure out how to get a safe light into the bathroom at the moment. The bathtub's also plastic in the new flat so I'm a bit wary of chemicals in it  I can still dev film in the sink and wash cyanotypes in there so I'm not totally without photography at least.

Anyway, my husband took a picture of me using our "darkroom" in the old flat two years ago, I was pull processing the HP5 because we were shooting outside in full sunshine at our friend's wedding and we didn't have anything slower at the time.

One nice thing about using a sink now is I'm not having to kneel or bend down quite as much either. Probably should have been doing that in the old flat too

I love the way you file your negs on a hamster cage! This is exactly the sort of set up I had at uni. I kind of miss it.

Ah I don't permanently file them on the hamster cage. they just end up there when I'm using a negative from that sheet. Also note where I placed it... away from the platform side of the cage. There was a time i was in mid-printing and wondered what that strange noise was... yup, hamster chewing on the negative sleeves. Luckily it didn't eat any of it or the actual negatives.

Ever thought of putting a dynamo on the hamster's wheel to power the enlarger... give him extra vitamins and sugary foods for long printing sessions

I have seen studio's that have cat's lolling around looking cool, but I've never before met a darkroom hamster.

Nice job Heather. Great work coming from make shift circumstances.

Gus was a proper darkroom hamster, only passed away a month ago. We made nice "gus-o-graphs" together.
Not sure if the new hamster, Rolleikins, would be so accommodating to my whims of scooping her up and putting her on paper then scooping her up to put her back in her cage.
