Weekend: 10–11 January 2026

This film has been in my Leica for so long that when I tried to get it on a reel, it had curved the wrong way. After a couple of tries, I gave in to the inevitable and put it on the emulsion side out. Nevertheless, it doesn't seem any worse for wear.

I've never been the biggest fan of HP5 (this is shot at iso 800), although I have to admit I've never developed it in anything but HC-110. I don't remember why I bought it.

I went into Gravesend a week after this much-loved local music shop had closed, sadly going the way of many similar small shops. They used to stock a great little selection of used vinyl, RIP.  :'(

After that, I wandered around town snapping at random. Nothing, very exciting, I'm just trying to keep the new year momentum going.

I must admit that I so often miss small shops these days, especially record shops. They're all gone from the region.

This week I've been trying not to break a bone. We had a wicked ice storm. So I took the time to build some furniture for some electronic gear that had no home. Now if I want to move around the stuff, I'm not stuck with a tangle of wires.

I get that. There's a lot about Canada I like the idea of, but I have to admit, your winters aren't one of them!

I must admit that the winters are something else.
Yesterday I went out with a camera (well, in reality two) for the first time in months.
Skies were a very dull gray, just like today.
While it was relatively warm (around -3°c), there wasn't much to see.
This morning, when I got up, the temps were at -18°c, but it's already at -6°. We're supposed to get snow and rain again tonight.
Add to that that it's full blown flu season...
