Hello my old friends.
After a loooong break, I developed a film again. The reason was the purchase of a ravishing beauty that has lost none of her charm over the decades: a Zeiss-Ikon Ikonette from 1958. She (yes, "she") was also marketed in advertisements as a lady's camera. Unfortunately, it was denied great success because it quickly became known for technical defects: irreparable light leaks and broken so-called rapid action levers. The Zeiss-Ikon company launched a recall campaign and destroyed all the cameras it could get its hands on. Therefore, there are quite a few surviving cameras today, and I was fortunate enough to receive one directly from the original buyer's son. He couldn't comment on its technical condition, but in the pictures it looked like new. So the price was very modest. In fact, it is practically mint, technically in perfect working order; even the self-timer works flawlessly after a few attempts. Only the likewise beautiful plastic case needed a gentle cleaning. I could probably sell this magnificent specimen again in a heartbeat for five times the price, meaning about 250 bucks. Of course, she can and must stay; I'm completely in love.
For the first trip, I took her to the Japanese Garden in Kaiserslautern (K-Town). I fed her a roll of the cheapest film ever, Paradiesfilm 200 that had expired 12 years ago, and had it developed and scanned by the last remaining photo lab in town.
Outlook: a Lomo Sprocket Rocket is loaded with an almost new Wolfen NC500 400. Results may take while, hopefully not years. Filmwasting will be a niche for me nowadays, on my flickr (imagesfrugales) you might get an impression of what and how I'm shooting today.
