Weekend - August 16 & 17, 2025
« on: August 16, 2025, 06:16:15 AM »
I drove across the Palouse on my way to Idaho last week.  Ricoh Diacord L with Konica Infrared 750nm, Expired 3/2000.  I used a red filter and developed in HC-110.

Nice IR shots Bryan, love the first one. Mine were shot last Saturday, a rather grey and dull day.

A couple more from my Lewes walkabout and one from Sisssinghurst castle - which is not an actual castle more of a stately home

I love that first one, Bryan.

I went to see the Velveteers at the Sultan Room last week. Great band (singer/guitarist and two drummers, one of whom also plays keyboards while he drums). First American rock band I've been excited about in a long time. Kinda mesmerized by the singer/guitarist so no good shots of the drummers.

I must admit that musically, there isn't much that's even remotely interesting these days...

You live in the wrong city 😁 I see ground-breaking music pretty much every day 😉 Like this band, which shoots fire out of their instruments while metal workers grind rebar in tempo (Minolta SR-T102/Kodak Gold @1600):

Well... I thought Toronto's Cybertronic Spree was weird (in a good way) with their Transformers inspired outfits...
I guess this fits in with Portland's Darth Piper 😁

Sad thing is that the Montreal music scene is slowly dying. There used to be a lot of venues, but they pretty much all close down one after the other.
The thing is that we used to have free newspapers that did the promotion of the shows and bands, but that is all gone. The construction sites used to have palissades covered with posters, but now they use mesh fences that make it impossible to stick anything to them.

So unless you check out every individual show place on the web by yourself, there is nothing to guide you around.
But on the up side we still have the Salla Rosa and Les Foufounes Électriques on the small venue front.

And since it's the summer, we have a lot of free shows in the parks.

Yeah, even here, you kinda gotta be "in the know" to know about the real cool underground stuff. Or like you said, follow the bands or venues individually. And the scene here is so big that even though I am certainly "in the know" for certain scenes, there's still so much that I miss and only find out about a lot later. But in a way, that's a good problem 😁
