L O N G weekend for some of us....May 23-26
« on: May 23, 2025, 04:09:08 PM »
A recent trip to Arizona with the intrepid RETO Wide and Slim which is an exact clone of the vivitar.

Fp4 dunked in D76 for 11 minutes.
Holbrook, Arizona.

I'm obsessed with this corner even though it's not the famous one sung about in the next town, I like this one better.
It's those lamps that hypnotize me...

Did you know that Kentmere 400 can be shot at 6400??? Thanks to Peter for that knowledge 😁 Here it is, developed in HC110B for 40 minutes with inversions every 5min (a pretty tedious dev scheme, but if it allows me to shoot literally 1 stop slower than the fastest that I shoot digitally, I'll take it! 😂)

Some shots around town.  Kodak Baby Brownie Special with a flipped lens.  Rerapan 400 127 film developed in beer.

Ok fine, HP5 @6400 is slightly better than Kentmere @6400 😂 (but also I think the natural light was better for your shots than mine 😒)

Funny because when I expose pretty much any 400 speed film at 6400, I always end-up developing it in PQ Universal for massive grain and grit 😁

I used to think Neopan 1600 was the best to push for low light and I only pushed it to 3200. Then I stumbled upon these images of HP5 @6400 in the Film Dev Recipes site and I couldn't  believe how good they looked -- shadow detail, reasonable contrast, surprisingly small grain.

HP5 @6400 -- HC-110 1:47 (dil. B) for 40 minutes; 30 sec inversion with 10 sec inversions every 5 minutes. Voila

I never thought of pushing film using low agitation developing developing.
I'll have to take note of that and try it some day.
I guess that's at 69°F ?

Bryan, I think your flipped lens was made for that tree in the first shot. Cool!

Thanks Kai. I'm always keeping an eye out for interesting trees.  Funny thing is, I must have walked and drove past this one hundreds of times without noticing it until now.  I'll give Quincy credit for finding it, he wanted to wizz on a bush right in front of it, that's when I noticed its shape.
