Weekend - March 7, 8 & 9, 2025
« on: March 08, 2025, 05:26:56 AM »
Finally made it back from the Southern California fire response.  biggest response I've ever done, had 730 people working on it, mobilized them in 3 days.  brought my Leica IIIf with a Summaron 3.5cm f/3.5.  These were shot on Adox HR-50, developed in beer.

Bryan - I grew up in La Crescenta, just to the West of Altadena, and spent a lot of time in Pasadena and roaming the San Gabriel foothills over the years. A couple of friends lost their childhood homes, but family and friends still there now came through mostly OK, all things considered. It's going to be a bit surreal I think, the next time we're in the area, to see that vast parts of my childhood memories have been erased from the landscape.

A bit of color for me this week. Mamiya C3, Kodak Gold 200. 80mm on the baseball photo, 55mm for the Porsche. I didn't like the color rendering on the film with the Zeiss lenses, but it seems to be much better with the Mamiya, so maybe it will have a place in the rotation after all.

My neighbors son lost his home in Altadena, completely burned to the ground.  His neighbors house is still standing.  It was a really nice area with beautiful old homes.  That charm will probably be lost when they start throwing new homes up in a rush to re-build.

It's been raining all week here, so no risk of wildfires. The forecast for tomorrow is good, so I'll be out shooting in the morning. These two shots are from last Friday.

I was in the San Francisco bay area last week with some Agfa APX 100 that someone on this forum graciously donated to me. I wanted to see if I could push it a stop or two. Pushing to 200 worked decently, although there was a definite loss of shadow detail. Pushing to 400 is not recommended 😁 But here it is exposed more or less at 100, which is where it wants to be 😉

Slowly working through the recently-developed backlog. This is probably from last winter.
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

I get to play this time....
Vivitar Wide and Slim from a recent beach trip...er maybe it was a RETO which is a clone now that i read the info tag...anyway, a small plastic camera was involved.
Rollei Retro 400S scanned as colour and sloshed about in D76 for about nine minutes.
