New Year weekend 2025
« on: January 03, 2025, 12:42:03 PM »
I went to Stavanger in the morning of New Years day, the forecast was good. I had loaded a camera with ISO 100 film, but it turned out to be too dark for the film/lens combo. Luckily I had a backup camera and a 400 ISO film so the trip was not all wasted.

I just started a new photo project about my family's experience with food and our food system during the COVID pandemic. I've been saving my last pack of FP-100C Silk for a special occasion, and decided this was the time. Here is a photo of my wife prepping artichokes, and another of just-roasted honeynut squash on its way to becoming miso. All the produce is from Spade and Plow farm, which provided us a weekly community-supported agriculture box of produce delivered to our door from 2020 to 2022 (we now purchase at the farmers' market). Both were taken on an Intrepid 4x5 with a packfilm back. Fun!

Nice shots there. I like the Polaroid colors. Here are a couple from around the neighborhood. As some of you might know, I live in the same neighborhood as a certain crime-fighting team of teenagers.  8)

The camera is a Yashica 44LM that recently developed some light leaks.
The film is 46mm non-perf Konica 160.
The developer is DIY C-41.

That is so cool!
Too bad it isn't a flat nosed Econoline, that would have been just too much 😁
Now, where did I put those Scooby-snacks?

Didn't we both get bulk rolls of that film from Terry?  He's been gone from this group for a long time, I did meet him a few times when he visited his son that lives near me.  It must have been around 2016 that we got it, that was the first time I shot it.  I still have some, it's been a few years since I last shot it.

Here's some still life's I did experimenting with lighting and backgrounds.  Crown Graphic with Graflex Optar f/4.7 135mm using Kodak T-Max developed in Rodinal 1:50.

Toy robot lit from the top and bottom.  The background is a sheet of red Formica.  I figured it would appear as a dark gray with Panchromatic film.  I'll have to try it with a red filter next.

Chinese Peonies lit from the front with a bright flashlight.  It's sitting on the red Formica with a white background.

Chinese Peony with a black wrinkled cloth background.  This was a long exposure while moving a bright flashlight around to get even lighting all over.

Happy New Year all.
I've been playing with Diana F lenses on my Canon, just to see if there is any point or if the centre of those MF lenses is too good for the Krappy Kamera effect.
So, to my go-to woods on a misty morning. I'm undecided. I think an urban setting may be a better test.

I was trying to remember where I got that film. I think you are right. This is the only 127 camera in my collection at the moment. Maybe I need to find a Brownie Fiesta. I guess I could wind it onto a 120 spool and shoot slight panos.

Win Green, near Shaftesbury. An interesting clump of trees but nothing else.

There's lots of similar groups of trees along the Ridgway but it looked like the one at Barbury Castle made famous by Fay Godwin (https://www.picassomio.com/fay-godwin/9724.html)
Can't find my images of the said trees at present so here's another similar bunch of trees with a rather strange effect.

Hi folks. It's been a while.

I haven't been completely unproductive over the past few years, but output has been way down due to a combination of circumstances. I'm trying to get myself back into the habit, albeit slowly. I finally sent off the eight rolls of color I've shot over the past two years (which gives some idea of how little I've shot) and got the scans back, and I've got a bit of B&W done as well.

In an effort to further focus myself, I'm probably going to be selling off a few bits of kit soon, mostly Leica threadmount lenses and a viewfinder or two that just aren't being used. Stay tuned.

For now, here's one from a couple years ago.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

That's a very nice comeback shot, 02! Beautiful light!

I’ve lived in Wiltshire all my life but I’ve never ventured up to the Ridgeway. Looks interesting.

Thanks, Kai.

Satish, yes, I'm still lurking about upstate. Maybe when it warms up a bit we can get together somewhere. Are any of the other NY-area people still active here?

I haven't seen Terry on here in forever, LA (now officially Lanre) moved to North Carolina, Miguel is now stationed in Italy, and Peter is doing nothing but sending me phone pictures of his new dog. I don't think any of them have posted here in years. So, like, I think that's kind of a no 😂

I'm not very active, but I'm still here 😁
It's been very cold lately up here, which is too bad since I had a definite urge to go out. But lets say that a snowy and icy 10°F doesn't give the nicest conditions out there for photos. Which is a bit sad as I've got a few cameras to run film through.
