How do you print your postcards? Also do you send them as actual postcards with the address on the back, or in an envelope? With inkjet prints I fear humidity or condensation could ruin the picture.

I have done darkroom postcards, inkjet postcards and more recently have used a print-on-demand service like Moo or something. It's not going to be photo-perfect quality, but that's not the point for me. If you wanted to send out something of a higher quality, then a postcard size inkjet in a cheap envelope perhaps? Don't worry too much about perfection, unless that is absolutely your schtick, then go for it!

Every postcard exchange, I go the same way. I send the images to a local drugstore to get some prints done. When I go for something slower than than an instant service, I tend to get some nice Fuji crystal archive prints that don't scratch through the mail like the instant prints from those Kodak machines we see everywhere. I inkjet print a custom bristol board backing for them and then assemble with glue. The excess gets trimmed with a guillotine or a box cutter and a metal ruler.

So far I heard that they survive the postal service quite well.

A friend and I have experimented with the print on demand service called Touchnote.
They do it all, print, address and mail.
It's a little pricey, but the service and stock they use is quite good.
I've hung one outside in the woods and it has survived quite well for a year.
I know this is extreme, but I'm a testing geek, so a lot of print types get displayed in the woods behind my house for the critters.

The Touchnote is nice. Thick stock too.

Touchnote looks interesting, 3,29 € all included. The price is not so bad, an international postcard with the French postal service is 1,96 €, then there would be the printing cost.

Hi All

I have nearly everyone's addresses, but I am still waiting to hear from Kai-San. I have an old address (from 2021), but I don't want to use that in case Kai has moved since and we all send our postcards to a random person! I have sent a DM to Kai-San too and have not had a reply.

I think I will send out the address list later this evening and leave Kai-San off. Sorry Kai if you see this too late and haven't sent your details yet. Please get in touch and I will send you one from me anyway.

I just got one from Becky yesterday, the post office wasn’t nice to it but I still enjoyed it very much. I just spent most of the day in the darkroom printing mine, I’ll get them mailed soon.

Thanks Francois! A week to Canada is not bad, good to see the postal services are not entirely dysfunctional. Here they are cutting cost (increasing profit is a better way to describe it) so we get mail only every other day, and since they make their own rules we get mail three days this week and two days next week and so on.

No treat, but that would have helped. Getting him to sit still for 2 seconds so I could focus was a impossible. I just had to be patient and wait for the right moment.

Three more beauties have dropped onto my door mat so far this week: Francois' majestic 'Big Sprocket', Bryan's adorable puppy and Shaun/Harvey's utterly bewitching high altitude Dorset tree-scape. Exciting times. Thanks very much.

For my own part my cards are addressed and just need something witty and/or informative written on them. I have really gotten out of the habit of writing, so it's a bit daunting
