Alas, it is restricted to the US. I heard that there were over 1200 entries this time around and Jill had to winnow it down to 50 prints total. Imagine what it would be like if they opened it up internationally. The turnout would be HUGE!
They put all the selected entries in their first floor space and, since last year, have tacked and pasted the rejected workprints on the walls of the 2nd floor gallery space for everyone to see as our very own Warren Harold, who was Best of Show last year, can attest to. Plus the Best in Show, 1st through 3rd place finishers, and four honorable mentions not only get prizes but also get their work published in Camera Arts magazine which does an annual feature on the show. And that, for me, is the best prize of all.
btw, they call the top eight and then send notifications by smail mail to all who participated, whether or not they got in. Definitely a wonderful touch IMHO and a procedure all galleries, ideally, should follow.
